I’d guess the added risk of having a metal pan on your head is pretty minimal compared to the ‘being outside when lightning strikes’ part.
Yeah, I don’t know if a metal pan grounded through your head will attract lightning any more than your bare head will. The resistance is still pretty much the same either way.
The resistance of a human being (even a wet one) is like… billions of times greater than say, steel.
Lightning rods work for a reason. He just decided to make himself into one.
Yep - the reason lightning rods work is because they provide a low-impedance path all the way to ground. Putting a metal helmet on a person no more makes them into a lightning rod than does putting a wire lead on a 1 megohm resistor make it a short-circuit.
