I’ve had little desire to play it again, but I’ll try a new city with this new patch just to see if it interests me again.
What’s your Origin ID? We’re on North America West 1.
I couldn’t fit the whole name I wanted in, so it’s been shorted to “QT3.0 Gluttons fo Pain”

This is why I am not playing this game. Ill wait for another 6 months or perhaps a few years when things are finally sorted out (if they get sorted out). Then ill play a bug-free, well balanced game. The only drawback is that everyone else will killed their interest by playing the game too early and Ill have to play all alone.
There’s no chance you will play alone because they would have shut down the servers.
So far I haven’t seen any major bugs.

Right.
All the shitty stuff in the game is “working as designed.”

At least 6 months, perhaps a few years.
If the servers are still up.
I’m curious, what noticeable improvements have been made between 2.0 and 3.0? I know there is a fixlist but I’m more interested in the tangible changes I’ll notice if I start playing again.
It’s strange… it’s as if stuff just kinda works now. Busses are still stupid and follow each other way too much, garbage trucks as well, but other than that traffic is better. In fact, you feel more compelled to see who is who to see what is needed. Since the game was so broken before, it never made sense to click on individual buildings (before they’d gone bad) to see if all their needs were being met. You could keep changing things and it would never fix the unhappy area. But now, since we’re not playing constant whack-a-mole with the bulldozer tool, you can take time to find issues before they sprout. This is how I slowly expanded my parks and commercial to fit what was needed. Balance is pretty good now I think as well. But of course this is only after 6 hours.
So far all is very good except the following:
- Mass Transit Busses still clump way too much and follow each other.
- A little concerned with education. Not everyone getting to school - could be due to bussing issues?
- Gifting works, but there is often a very long delay I didn’t experience before.
- I’m still not seeing freight build up at depots.
Something nice I saw… A truck came in to deliver a gift at the back of my map, then on its way out, it took a totally different set of roads that were less congested. That was pretty cool to see.
Trash truck conga line is still in effect, I had 10 trash trucks follow each other around my entire city.
And the paid DLC has begun! Haven’t seen this posted for sale anywhere else yet. Due out on May 28th.

wow. if the playing area is as small as pointed out here, where is the space to put up all the rides?

I think your city will BE the theme park, or at least most of it.
Just keep the log flume away from the sewage treatment plant.
That’s…an interesting choice of direction to run with.
Actually I think a full-on Rollercoaster Tycoon game on this engine would be pretty sweet. In the middle of SimCity seems a bit schizophrenic though.
I keep visiting this thread for the delicious delicious schadenfreude but it’s hard to enjoy myself when so many of you are suffering through it.
I’m starting to think this is all some form of psych experiment.
Considering the size of the maps a RollerCoaster Tyccoon style would seem a lot more reasonable than MegaTropolis fitting onto a stamp.
