Some pretty big injury news today. Looks like Byron Leftwich suffered a torn MCL, meaning the Steelers are going to have presumably start Dennis Dixon for the now 4 games that Roethlisberger will be missing. And LenDale White, who had been looking pretty solid in Denver, also appears to have suffered a season ending injury.
Meanwhile, it looks like some decent players are joining the list of guys who want to be traded: C Justin Hartwig of Pittsburgh and WR Patrick Crayton of Dallas.
Finally, teams are beginning to cut down players as all rosters have to be down to 53 players on Saturday. It will be interesting to see what notable players are on those lists.
Crayton was just traded to the Chargers (and OL McQuistan to the Dolphins). Details still being worked out.

Houshmandzadeh has left town after apparently being told that if he isn’t traded he will be cut tomorrow by the Seahawks.
Honestly, Seattle looks more and more like a team that doesn’t expect to do much this year and is just clearing space and trying to acquire picks when it can for the future.
And Leinart’s being released by the Cards, according to ESPN.
Yeah, seems that way… Crayton was traded weakly too, for a 7th round pick. Have always liked the guy but the Cowboys (ie. Jerry Jones) created a situation where someone would have to be forced out. Unfortunately it wasn’t Roy Williams.

Seattle also cut JP Losman today, meaning they only have 2 QBs on the roster. Are they going to go after Leinart? John Clayton said he thinks they will actually sign Patrick Ramsey, who was also cut today. It’ll be interesting to see.

I don’t mind. I picked up Mike Williams late in my 18 team draft. I’ll take it. I wonder if Seattle will change their mind from Ramsey to Leinart now.
That’s a big hit in the wallet to Leinart. I think he was due $3M this year and $7M next.
Yeah the rumor was that Seattle was going after Ramsay. I dunno why, he sucks.

Dre Bly didn’t make the final cut with the Lions. Bullet dodged!
Pat White and Troy Smith both got cut too looks like.

Ramsey is what happens to promising NFL QBs who are coached by idiots like Steve Spurrier.
What, block the middle blitz? Why do that? We’re jus’ playin’ pitch and catch here!

Well, crap. Alex Gibbs apparently retired today. So much for the offensive line coach who with the history of making it work regardless of the talent available. Pretty nasty timing as well.
Meanwhile, various sources keep saying Seattle intends to start the season with only 2 QBs on the roster. Seems rather a bad idea to me, but maybe it’s just smoke so they can take their time and see who has come free with the cuts today.

they could always pick up chris simms if worse comes to worse
They aren’t in THAT bad of shape. Besides, they claimed Zack Robinson off of waivers, I think.

Matt Leinart signed a 1-year deal with the Texans.
Wouldn’t that make him their 3rd QB? Or would he move ahead of Orlovsky? Seems like an odd choice. Plus a one year deal? Leinart must be considered done by most teams.
