What I saw Monday night (Sans special teams craziness) Was the 2001 Pats.
‘bend don’t break defense’- a ton of yards give, not many points allowed and turnovers, and an offense that spreads the ball around and a serviceable running game. Are they Superbowl bound? No. did I think this team would be 3-1? Nope. But I see the plan. When These guys get comfortable with each other and the scheme, it will get better. There is talent on this defense. We just saw E. Chung’s coming out game. i think we will see the same from others at points this year…I also think there is going to be times they get lit up and look like the worst defense in the game. Welcome to a young team.

So Favre finally gets his chance to play with Moss. Too bad it’s a year too late for him.

Marshawn Lynch to Seattle

They gave up a 2011 4th round pick and a 2012 6th rounder.

Julius Jones is now looking for work.

A third round pick is just tragic compensation for Moss. Minnesota better be sending us Justin Morneau for the Sox as well or something.

It’s a third-round pick for 2/3 of a season’s worth of Moss, as they didn’t want to pay him $$$ to extend his contract beyond this year. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

If you’re the Vikings, sure. They’re ecstatic.

Read some posts from yesterday. ;-)

The Seahawks are talking as if they view Lynch as their long-term running back now, presumably saving them from having to look for one in the draft. The downside is that his off field issues, if there are more of them, are going to cause some fanbase unhappiness. But the upside is that he is exactly the kind of running back Seahawk fans prefer - a hard runner not afraid to hit people. That was the big criticism of Shaun Alexander even when he was statistically a dominant NFL running back - he was perceived by many fans as “soft.”

The Tiptoe Burglar? Soft? Surely you jest!

I went back and almost skimmed a whole page! Bah.

Looks like the Derek Anderson era is over in Arizona already, shockingly. ;-) Max Hall gets to start - against the Saints. Lucky him.

Cut Leinart before the season starts, then bench Anderson for an undrafted rookie. Arizona is looking like a hot mess.

You could Peyton Manning back there and it wouldn’t help. The O-Line gave up 9 sacks on Sunday. Ouch.

Exactly. So why do they keep switching out QBs? Afraid one guy will literaly die on the field?

Be careful - sacks aren’t always the fault of the offensive line. Often it’s at least partly due to a failure on the part of a QB to get rid of the ball in a reasonable amount of time. Only the most dominant offensive lines can hold a pass rush back for more then a few seconds.

Derek Anderson was a mistake from day one. If the Cards didn’t trust Leinart they should have gotten someone legitimate as an alternative. Instead they settled for someone who almost no one else had any real interest in. When they cut Leinart they would have been better off admitting they were going to take a step backwards this year and go with the rookie (Hall) to begin with.

Derek Anderson has looked terrible, except in the second half against the Rams when he got hot.

Three teams probably made a mistake in not pursuing McNabb: The Niners, the Cardinals, and the Vikings. Each of those teams would have been set for the next three to four years at the QB position.

I can see the Viking not wanting to start yet another problem at QB by not going after him, but the Niners and the Cards? DUMB

Clinton Portis will miss 4-6 weeks with a third-degree separation of his groin.

I hope the skins grab Julius Jones.

Or at least bring him in for a look see before re-signing Willie Parker or Larry Johnson.

That loud thump you just heard was him falling off my bench in both of the QT3 ESPN fantasy leagues.

What on earth was he doing at the time the injury occurred?
