Probably screaming in pain?

This sounds like the most awful thing ever.
Re moss trade: It was a good trade. NE wasn’t going to re-sign him; not for the money he wants. Let’s not forget that he’s getting older and is probably past his prime. Let somebody else pay him a big contract.

It’s interesting that most of the national reaction to the Moss trade seems negative. Most commentators seem to think it hurts the Patriots chances this year even though they realize Moss probably wasn’t going to be resigned. Meanwhile, the Vikings are criticized for making a move that will only help them this year, the assumption being that Moss will have to be offered a multi-year contract and that this is it for Favre. So next year’s Vikings will pay a price for this move beyond the draft pick given up.
It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
As a Pats fan I hated the Moss trade at first. But now after hearing Deion Sanders among others at the NFL Network proclaiming the Pats have given up on their season, I’m just dying for the Pats to make a deep playoff run. There are no dominant teams in the NFL this season (at least not yet), and the ‘any given Sunday’ never rang more true. Brady has a lot on his shoulders, but the man is a competitor. If any QB can carry his team, he can. And although the defense can really suck, at least they are young and fast, and with a touch of luck who knows …

Forgive me for making an obvious comment, but that sounds like a kind of pain I hope never to experience.

If the Redskins make a successful move at running back - Julius Jones or someone else comes in and performs - look for Portis to be placed on IR.
He’s old, banged up, with a ton of milage, running behind an O-line in flux.
At the end of the season the Redskins will part ways with Portis anyways, so IR is my prediction based on this injury.
Rumors abound about the Real Neon Deion coming back to the Pats…
Sanders wears good suits, but he has always been wrong about predicting the Pats. Remember he was one of those nomad types, he never was a loyal player.
The sad thing is, if Randy stayed with Brady, they would have set up a legacy that would not be matched. But for some people history and legacy do not matter, only the $$$. That is cool, each to their own. But i was actually looking forward to a player coming close to Jerry Rice’s touchdown record. It won’t happen with Moss in Minn.
Two guesses who ESPN picked as the color guy for Michigan vs. Michigan State this weekend. Seriously, ESPN, WTF!

Considering this is the NFL thread, I’m going to guess… Matt Millen?
Ding – winner! God I hate that dumbass.

In a sort of offhand Football Outsiders post, Aaron Schatz mentions that Pats insiders said that the drama we saw with Moss was only half as bad as it was for real
Bill Simmons wrote that the QB coach almost punched Moss at halftime. And after the game Moss was still upset and stayed upset the entire plane ride home.
And ESPN is saying the Pats are interested in Deon Branch. Branch has asked to meet with the Seattle GM to discuss his future, and Brady and Branch have been talking. The Pats certainly have enough draft picks to make a trade.

On one hand, I have no idea why they’d want Branch. The guy is… not good.
On the other hand, as a Seattle fan - I’d love to see the Pats make the same mistake Seattle did! That would be like awesomely ironic or something.
Brady and Branch had success together, and the Pats could use a receiver who can stretch the field.
The Hawks are 2-2 in a weak division, though. I don’t know if they’d give up a player for a pick. Seems like it might hurt their chances this year.

I don’t think Branch can stretch the field anymore (8.6 yards per catch this year), but from the Pats point of view reacquiring Branch would be a quick and easy way to give Brady a receiver he would be comfortable with.
Seattle has the depth to give up Branch, though. Don’t forget that they picked up Brandon Stokley last week and made it clear they planned to give him a lot of opportunities since he knows the offense. Giving up Branch would simply require Seattle to play Golden Tate and/or Obomanu more, which isn’t a bad thing. Branch was probably gone after this year anyway since his contract expires after next season and they are already overpaying him ($5.5m this year, almost $6m next year).
Yeah, Seattle is in a rebuilding year anyway. Dip out on Branch, take the draft pick.
You can say they are in a rebuilding year, and that’s probably true, but they are also a very real contender for the NFC West title. Even the 0-4 Niners are still in it.
It’s true and most likely a 7 win team will win the NFC West this year…and, I don’t know if Seattle has 7 wins in them, Branch or not.
Um, Jeff, I don’t think that link goes where you think it does…
