Oh good, another lengthy discussion about Brett Favre. I’m glad QT3 is covering this base since no other football sites have really touched on the topic.

It really is a topic that is underdiscussed. ;-)

At least here it’s being discussed with information and intelligence, not sound bites.

Fair point.

Brett Favre doesn’t know how to quit. You can tell how much he loves the game of football. He’s a real game-changer.

Confessions of an NFL agent

Would you rather us discuss Jason Campbell? Thought not. :)

This is a fantastic article. Every person here should read it. There’s already been some fallout because of it:

Yeah, that was a remarkable read. Highly recommended.

Wow. Mel Kiper could be in some very big trouble.

Hmmm…

This isn’t the first time there have been questions raised about Kiper’s relationships with Wichard. PFT wrote an article back in April about Kiper’s ranking of Jimmy Clausen as his top prospect at quarterback. Clausen was a Wichard client.

I never understood why Kiper was so stuck on Clausen. Clausen had a reputation of being immature and even his accuracy was called into question by some scouts. Yeah, he played in a pro-style system, but that doesn’t make him the top prospect – just someone who might be able to step in more quickly.

And so far Clausen has looked bad at QB for the Panthers, though granted, he’s on a terrible team.

I doubt Kiper would be in any kind of trouble over whatever was presented in that article, which (in regards to him) really wasn’t much aside from a phone call and an unsubstantiated rumor.

And Clausen was one of Wichard’s clients.

Doesn’t matter what “Viper” Kiper says to deny it, now. That’s one hell of a bunch of circumstantial evidence.

As the second article suggests, this isn’t the first time this has come up with regards to Kiper. Moreover, it gives people who don’t like Kiper anyway a reason to think he’s a shill, and as people keep repeating it, that will soon become his reputation. And he’ll be no good for ESPN with that reputation.

It’s interesting, because there was an article a while back from an NFL coach or scout that said Kiper’s gotten a lot better, done more homework to make better evaluations, but that earlier on, his evaluations were worthless. Now maybe he was just stupid and not actually evil as the article suggests, but now that someone who oughtta know has said it, and we have the Clausen thing corroborating it, he’s doomed.

It doesn’t matter that it’s true; the innuendo is just too powerful.

I half expect to see a press release from ESPN in support of Kiper to come out in the next couple of days. This is known as “the kiss of death.” In a few weeks, we’ll see ESPN make their real move.

Then it’d just be like a Redskins fan message board from 2007-2009!

Browns may start Colt McCoy on Sunday.

Trent Dilfer likes this.

Browns and Eagles swapped RBs. Jerome Harrison for Mike Bell.
This looks like a weird trade to me, since Harrison seems like a much better player.

Also, the Chargers are gonna release Shawn Merriman in a few weeks when he is healthy. I wonder who will pick him up.

He hasn’t been the same player since he got busted for 'roids, has he?

Anyone know the details on this? I’m having a hard time figuring out why the Chargers are just willing to let him go. What’s going on to justify this from their POV?
