Because it’s one of the longest-running records in sports? And because it would feel like a bit of a cheat if he started, played two downs, and then went out for a sub, just to keep the record alive.
Actually, they didn’t add an interception. That was the ruling on the field and it was the scorer who got it wrong (or right, because it did bounce).
Whatever the case, they didn’t give me my fantasy points for it. :(
So??
If they can add and take away sacks, add and take away yards lost on incompletions vs laterals vs running plays based on post game video review(most famously Merc Morris in 1972, decades before replay review during games), why the Hell should they be limited to the “call on the field” for awarding this “interception”.

Michael Silver at Yahoo has some coaching changes speculation even though the season isn’t even half over. One that I would argue with is his talk about Holmgren either taking over as head coach with the Browns or bringing in a big name to do the job. I actually think the most likely scenario, and one that was talked about here in Seattle, is that he would replace Mangini with Gil Haskell, his former offensive coordinator with the Seahawks who is currently serving as an advisor. I don’t think Holmgren will coach again.
You’re right, the NFL has no guidelines on what it can or cannot alter post-game.
Dolphins continue their bizarre effort to go 8-0 on the road and 0-8 at home…
So, Tarvaris Jackson has completed 100% of his passes on the season for a touchdown now.

I probably already know the answer, but I have to ask anyways - has that ever been done?

Goodbye, Brett. If that’s a broken jaw, I doubt we see him again.

Well, lucky him, it’s only a concussion and stitches. Glad to see he doesn’t go out that way.

Then why wasn’t it flagged?! He got hit in the head under the chin, knocking him out of the game…isn’t helmet-to-head worse than helmet-to-helmet hits!!!
And the Redskins lose to the Lions. Over the past 2 years, the Lions are 2-0 against the Redskins, and 2-19 against the rest of the NFL.
Too bad the Lions don’t play the Redskins every game…
Wow. Playing with two broken bones in his foot and he gets knocked out with an 8-stitch facial laceration. I’ve almost gone all the way through schadenfreude and into feeling genuinely sorry for Favre.
Almost.
The man is either unbelievably tough, or an incredible masochist (or both). But damn, I bet he’s finally wishing he’d stayed retired this time.

I don’t feel sorry for him. The signs that he should have walked away get more glaring every year, he just keeps ignoring them. Seriously, he started talking about retiring in 2005. He threw the NFC Championship losing INT at the end of the 2007 season. His arm fell apart in the second half of the 2008 season. He threw another NFC Championship losing INT at the end of the 2009 season and got beaten up badly in that game. How many more signs does he need? Now he’s getting his ass handed to him because karma is tired of giving him signs and is now trying to beat some sense into the guy.

OK Sarkus, is Seattle’s offense really that bad or the Raider’s defense really that good?

Seattle’s offense is that bad. They’re terrible.
The Patriots improve to 6-1, the best record in the NFL.
Just sayin’.

Seattle’s offense, particularly on the road, is pretty weak. Not only do they have continuing upheaval on the offensive line, they lack big play makers. Williams is a nice find but he doesn’t have the speed to break a big play very often. Same with the rest of their wide receivers, though rookie Golden Tate might turn into something if he ever runs routes well enough that they trust him on the field. That’s why Seattle looked at the various big play wideouts in the offseason. Adding Marshawn Lynch is an upgrade at running back, but the offensive line problems hurt the running game. And Hasselbeck is not having a good year.
The interesting thing about what Carrol and Schneider (GM) have done since they got here is that they seem to have realized that the defense was a lot closer to where it needed to be and made fewer changes, including the almost unheard of decision to retain Mora’s defensive coordinator. That’s pretty telling given Carrol’s defensive background. But they are still struggling to find offensive players which is why they’ve made so many changes there. Given the weakness of the division (note that Arizona lost again today) they might end up making the playoffs, but its going to be simply by default because this isn’t a very good team on the offensive side of the ball.
Oh, I’m with you all the way on that one, don’t misread my original post. I’ve been wishing for years that Favre would just go away already, and have enjoyed every single moment of failure he’s had almost as much as I’ve loathed the “look at me” drama he’s sprung every offseason for the past, what, four years?
Just sayin… it’s almost gotten to the point where it’s just sad watching the guy get completely demolished – physically, mentally, and reputationally – because his ego wouldn’t let him walk away when he should have.
I don’t wish him actual further injury, but I hope he does get beaten down and humiliated exactly enough this year to convince him to finally give it up. Otherwise, the man’s going to die on a football field, and not of old age.
