I don’t think Shanahan likes black players. I can’t stand him and am truly sorry McNabb ended up with that idiot. Oh well, I’m sure McNabb will be out of there by the end of the year. Hopefully with at least one more good year left in him.

The well known black players that Shanahan has had, he’s treated badly. All the way back to TDavis. It’s simply my opinion based on what I’ve seen.
What did he do? I’ve never heard anything like this.
Not to get all numbers up in here, but aren’t black men a HUGE percentage of all players in the NFL? Your theory is he’s hating on them all?
So…ummm…The Vikings aren’t in disarray at all. I mean, it’s not like they just traded for Moss a few weeks ago and then released him…
As Joey used to say, “Whoa!”
I thought NFL coaches always did the safe thing to keep their jobs. Do they need to throw their weight around every now and then to assert their authority too?

Did I say that? The way TDavis was treated by him was awful. They gave him the ‘biggest contract in NFL history’ (of course for the time) and then dumped him before paying much of it. They dumped Portis when it looked like he was slowing even a little and never replaced him with anyone near as good. His treatment of Haynesworth is a simple bullshit domination move, which he (being paid less than half of what Haynesworth is being paid) is eventually going to lose. Taking McNabb out is yet another bullshit move he’s done to yet another black player. The guy is an asshole.
Yes, I’m a big McNabb fan, and not because he’s black, but because he’s a very good QB and an upstanding player. You don’t hear about him on love cruises, abusing dogs, running over people drunk, taking loaded guns to clubs, or cheating on his wife. He conducts himself like a professional should. And a really good QB on top of it. And for Shanahan to take him out like that just speaks to yet another bullshit domination move over yet another black player.
Just so you know, as of 2008, the league was 68% black.
I don’t know that he’s a racist or hates all black people or even all black players. But the well known ones he’s coached, he seems to always have issues with.
You and I have drastically different memories of the Clinton Portis trade. Portis wasn’t slowing a bit – Washington made a huge bid for a third-year halfback, trading a shutdown corner in his prime (Champ Bailey) PLUS a second-round pick.
Is Jeff Fisher racist for keeping Vince Young (black) out when Kerry Collins (white) started playing decently? What about Andy Reid, benching McNabb for Kevin Kolb? What about trading McNabb away so he could start Kolb? Maybe he’s racist the OTHER way for benching Kolb for Vick! Wait, I can do better. Jon Gruden benched Keyshawn Johnson for insubordination, that racist asshole. Andy Reid pops up again with T.O.! And speaking of T.O., Tony Romo threw more to his BFF Jason Witten (white!) than Terrell Owens (black)! COINCIDENCE?
Yeah, actually. It is. I can find ONE other person online saying anything about Mike Shanahan being potentially a racist, and it’s a post dated November 1, 2010, claiming a white quarterback would never be taken out in a similar situation. Because yeah, we’ve NEVER seen a quarterback taken out because the coach thinks someone else can run the two-minute drill better, right? That’s never happened!
Actually, it has. Ken Whisenhunt subbed Kurt Warner in for Matt Leinart during no-huddle and late-game situations back in 2007, starting in week 3 against the Ravens. This is before Warner turned back into Superman – he was fresh off of going 3-12 as a starter over the previous two years, throwing 19 picks and fumbling 19 times during that span.
Was it a boneheaded move? Yes. Was it a decision motivated primarily, or even possibly, by Shanahan’s deep-seated prejudice against anyone with a different skin color? No. Is it possible Shanahan doesn’t like McNabb? Yes. Is it because of his skin color? I highly doubt it. Is it because McNabb one-hops passes and has been largely ineffective as a passer this season? I think that’s more likely.
Seriously now.

Matt Bowyer said it better.

As an ex-DC resident, I’ve seen a lot of McNabb and he’s gotten worse and worse the past few years. If you’ve seen him play at length this year you would see a QB who is a shell of his glory years from earlier this decade. Philly let him go for a reason. Nobody else but the Redskins wanted him for a reason. Because he is slow and inaccurate now.
He could probably still do well on a team with a solid running game and a solid offensive line. Unfortunately the Redskins are not that team, they are terrible.
This one is inexplicable to me - Shanahan has now changed his tune to McNabb lacking the conditioning to run a 4th quarter two minute drill.
So, for those who have not been watching the Skins.
-
McNabb has been poor at best - missing open receivers, timing off, short skipping passes.
-
However, he has been the leader of the team, and had the Skins in a position to win every game at the end (Except the Rams)
The first half of the season has exposed the Skins weaknesses in personnel - DBs, Dline, Oline, and receiver. The Skins, quite frankly have too many non NFL calibre players on the field to dominate any team in the league.
With McNabb in the last year of his contract, a message needed to be sent to him to step it up - however, benching him in a winnable game before the bye week - is a poor choice of message.
I thought the Skins were actually handling it correctly to this point - not signing a big deal while they (presumably) quietly pointed the finger at him to improve.

It’s just so amazing how badly people can read around here, that’s about all I’m going to say. Can you point out to me where I specifically said he may not be a racist? No? That’s probably because you didn’t bother to read what I said.
Since no one else has said on the internet (which is clearly all inclusive, don’t forget) that Shanahan has issues with black players, I don’t count. Got it. Remember, I never said he was a racist, you keep saying I said that.

So…in other words, you have nothing to back up what you’re saying.

Perhaps Lorini is a fellow Raiders fan. If she told me Shanahan was a baby murderer I’d completely buy it, no questions asked.

My view of Shanahan is that he’s just trying to show people who’s boss and establish some authority. Haynesworth doesn’t want to play 3-4? Too bad, chump. Play my way or you’ll sit. McNabb throws the ball into triple coverage trying to protect a lead with 4 minutes left? Hit the bench, dumbass. I’ll play REX GROSSMAN before I put up with that nonsense.
The Portis thing, I can’t even be sure how involved Shanahan was or if it was anything other than a great football move. They got back Champ Bailey and Shanahan promptly pulled random dudes like Reuben Droughns or Mike Anderson or Tatum Bell off the street to run for 1000 yards every year. To use these as examples of “Mike Shanahan has a problem with black people” is pretty flimsy logic, IMO.
