Titans get Moss.

Very surprised that the Dolphins and Raiders both elected to not put a claim in on him. Sounds like a lot of teams talked to one another. Interesting.

Yay! No Moss here in Seattle. You can talk about that yes, Randy Moss is a hall of fame player, but he’s not the same player he was in the last couple of years under NE, and he certainly isn’t playing with heart this year even when he was playing for NE earlier in the season. I can see no reason why any team would think he’ll put in effort magically for them, when already defenses have seen that they don’t need to double team Moss anymore because he shows if he’s going to give effort on a play or not just by his lackadaisical body language.

That being said, yes, Seattle needs a receiver. Thankfully not Moss.

Really glad it’s not Moss. LOVE to see someone kickass along side Williams and have Tate develop a bit. But not Moss.

I’m kind of shocked the Dolphins didn’t put in a claim for him. I guess they like having Brian Hartline as a starting receiver and kicking 5 FGs a game.

I wonder what the talk on Moss is around the league, and if a lot of teams think he’s a teamkilling headache to be avoided at all costs.

Childress probably torpedoed Moss in regards to the Rams. The paper is reporting that the Rams were interested, and then said that Childress is one of Spagnuolo’s best friends in the business and Spags was quoted as saying the Rams were “doing their homework” on Moss. In other words he got on the phone to Childress and heard bad things, no doubt.

Nice couple of threats the Titans have now with Chris Johnson and Randy Moss. Of course, Johnson better not expect Moss to be throwing downfield blocks for him.

I understand your comment, but I thought it was pretty cool that Miami outscored Cincinnati with field goals alone. :)

I know I’ll be seen as biased on this, but the Titans are about as good a fit as Moss could have. Fisher is a player’s coach, and it’s a smaller, more player friendly market. Young also throws a nice deep ball. He has some faults still as a QB, obviously, but the deep ball is NOT one of them. That’s the principle reason why he’s leading the NFL in QB rating (yeah, really). The Titans also have seen 8 man fronts all year, selling out to stop CJ from having any space. Moss will open up the field a bit, which the Titans really need.

I’m still worried about the chemistry, of course. Moss could undermine a pretty good youth movement in Tennessee, and I would hate to see that, obviously. But it’s still a good fit, and most TN fans are excited about the move. It’s probably the glow of a first kiss, and it may not last, but for now, this seems like a decent move for the Titans.

Yes. On Sunday, I hate the Chiefs, their fans, the coaches, the owners, and anyone else associated with them. Fuck the Chiefs and the hillbilly ass wagon they rode in on. I’ve not lived in Oakland for six years but I can’t imagine this sentiment has changed.

Also, not to dredge up this topic again, but here’s a solid column on the Shanahan/McNabb fiasco.

I agree with this for essentially the same reasons as you list.

This may just be wishful thinking in my part, but in Moss’s last post game press meltdown it seemed to me that he was coming to understand how much of a good thing he had carelessly discarded in New England. Naturally it took a trade to horrible Minnesota for him to appreciate how good he really had it.

So, if that remorse is genuine, then hopefully he realizes what a really rare opportunity he has to have a “second shot” (in the same year!) with a good, potentially great team. It would be his contribution that makes them great.

At worst, I’m sure he understand that if repeats the same behavior in front of the press as he did in New England and Minnesota, and does it again at a third club and with a third head coach in the same season then I think he becomes an outright pariah and only crazy Al over in Oakland would consider taking him back. Which in that circumstance would be poetic justice on all sorts of levels.

Updated reports say the Titans were the only team that actually claimed Moss. Under the blind claim system in place, teams have to decide whether to claim without knowing what anyone else is doing. So nobody else thought it was worth it, or at least worth it given the remaining salary owed Moss.

at least one Titan is happy about it

Also nobody needs to talk to anyone on the phone to be dissuaded from picking Moss up. They just need a TV set.

Why would they want a guy with as many TDs as all their WRs combined??

Another Shanahan/McNabb column. It’s an interesting take on Shanahan’s career and how he may very well be overrated. I think it goes a bit too far, but it does seem to show that Shanahan’s success has always been when he was handed a great QB and that when he gets to choose himself he’s not much more then a solid/good coach.

As a Redskins fan from the '70s on, I believe in the philosophy of an ‘adequate quarterback behind an awesome line equals a champion’.

The skins problem, right now, is that their 3 interior linemen are not playing up to the NFL level, and that is forcing McNabb into pressure situations he cannot handle.

With his experience, he shouldn’t be throwing into triple coverage during the final drive which should be icing the game.

But the horrid O-line play is killing him.

Fix the line first.

This right here is why I’ve always said that people didn’t watch Eagles games. He did this kind of shit all the time in Philly.

The O-Line doesn’t matter, McNabb should be able to do it all, every time!

To be fair, he has missed some easy passes this year in the games I’ve watched…but yeah, his line has been awful.

McNabb’s MO has been to skip a few passes into his receivers every year. That’s a given. The wider problem is the front line, though.

I agree that their line isn’t great, but when people like to coin the term “Legend” for a guy playing the QB position he shouldn’t be throwing into triple coverage when his team is leading and the game is on the line.

I don’t know why you’re dragging Favre into this discussion.
