5 bucks says they leave Wade at the airport.

Man, Childress isn’t just a crappy coach, he sounds like kind of a dick.

I’m somewhat gleeful about the Cowboys situation after hearing about the Cowboys playing at home in the Super Bowl for months. Still, I think it’s about time they were banished to Browns/Lions status because I’m a little tired of hearing about them at this point. They’re bad, period, end of discussion.

I think part of it is that the Raiders have finally found themselves. I think they’re the real deal.

I have to deal with the Cowboy Phenomenon here in Texas. And gah, sick of it.

Frankly though i never really thought Romo was the “real deal”, i’ve always suspected he just wasn’t smart enough to bring them up to the next level. I think he’s technically a very good quarterback, but he lacks the personality to rally the team, and he lacks the smarts to think outside of the play called for him. And every audible he calls seems to make things worse. He has bad situational awareness, and when the play goes awry, doesn’t seem to have that edge to find a way to make the down work.

For some reason, maybe his technical skill with his baby face, and Dallas fans’ obsessive need for another Aikman like hero, he has some kind of unshakable cred. No one ever talks bad about the Romo. But, imo, they’re going to need to move on from Romo if they ever want to get beyond the relative mediocrity of recent years (and the disaster of this year).

Lifelong Cowboys fan here. I agree. Dammit. I like the way Detroit and Cleveland are at least fighting to win, the Cowboys are just…quitters.

I disagree that Romo is the problem, but I see your point. He’s better than you give him credit for, but probably not as good as the NFL fans in general seem to think he is. Call me crazy, but I would start Romo over Eli Manning if they were both on my roster. I think the coaching for Dallas is a disaster, not because the coaches don’t know their x’s and o’s, but because they don’t know how to fucking COACH and INSPIRE and make a bunch of players believe in what they are doing. It’s sickening as a lifelong fan, but I get it when everyone piles on them. Jones sort of took “hate the Cowboys!” to the next level when he bought the franchise.

They actually lost to Buffalo last week in OT, but Haley iced the Bills’ kicker and he missed the re-kick.

After that, I decided I will pull against the Chiefs for the rest of the season. Haley iced the kicker again today, against the Raiders, but it didn’t matter and I’m glad for it.

Good to see Clemson alumnus Jacoby Ford getting big catches and returning that kickoff for a TD.

The only downside of the Raiders winning more games is that now the national radio shows are being overrun by suddenly talkative fans that are back into “Raider Nation” mode.

I have a bad feeling he’s going to end up as one of those “could’ve been except for the injuries” guys. The Lions need to start thinking in terms of having an alternative that is more then “backup” quality.

It’s been eight years man! I was in 6th grade!

I’m just joking around, but it is true that a national overnight sports talk radio show I listen two has had a massive increase in Raider calls the last couple of weeks. I’d prefer that Raider fans at least wait until they make the playoffs before acting like they are a dynasty again. ;-)

I’m thinking that the Cowboys (and maybe the Vikings) need to make coaching changes. Not because either team has a chance this year (though I guess the argument can be made for the Vikings not being done quite yet), but because both have potential successors on staff and the organizations have an opportunity to find out about those guys without making a multiyear committment. Dallas can hand things off to Garret and the Vikings to Frasier. The key is that neither team is going to be bringing their current head coaches back.

You’re fucking crazy.

heh

I’m just not a believer in Eli, even his Super Bowl win hinged on an epic bit of luck on the helmet catch. On the other hand, he did some Romo-esque ducking and dodging to even get that pass off…

It looks like the Browns need to go 7-1 to have a reasonable chance of the playoffs: http://www.playoffstatus.com/nfl/brownswhatif.html

The Raiders not only control their own destiny, they have a decent chance to hit the playoffs going 4-3.

That’s too bad about Stafford. Maybe they should shut him down for the rest of the year.

Man I had no idea the Patriots had 2 bye weeks this year.

The Chiefs have a much easier schedule than the Raiders going forward though. Raiders are going to have to win some tough games.

I don’t think anyone would have predicted that Hillis would have been the best running back from an Arkansas class that also included Darren McFadden and Felix Jones.

As a Cowboys fan, I have never been sold on Romo as the guy to get us to a Super Bowl.

So how long do you give Josh McDaniels at this point? He’s 4-14 in their last 18 games. The danger is more than not winning games – it’s depleting the franchise of talent. Trades Peyton Hillis and a 6th round pick for Brady Quinn when he already has a starting QB in Orton. Drafts Tebow in the first after trading a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th to get the pick, traded a 4th to get Maroney and a 6th, and Maroney looks like a bust, and paid Jarvis Green something like $3M only to cut him before the season started.

It’s not looking good for the Broncos, especially in a division where the Raiders and Chiefs finally seem to be on the upswing.
