Here is more info on what happened between Fisher and Young:

OK you win. Snyder has been awesome for the Redskins, what was I thinking.

Not only that, take a gander at the talent they have on offense on the skill positions. Go ahead, glance at that roster.

How the hell is this team losing games?

Titans receiver Nate Washington told reporters that players were “told to keep their mouth shut” about what happened in the locker room.

VY needs to grow up, and Jeff Fisher can EABOD.

Eagles Defense is getting the better of the Gnats’ offense right now.

That’s because the Giants suck and also they are poopyheads.

Hahahahahahahaha!

Yikes, edge-of-the-seat finish for the Patriots this week! Another classic game in the rivalry between Indy and NE.

I hope Ellis Hobbs is okay.

When stuff like this happens, you wonder if football is even worth it.

Between the league’s head-in-the-sand attitude about player safety and the interminable commercial-fest that is the modern game, I find it harder and harder to be a football fan.

Can you elaborate on this? One of the biggest stories in the NFL this year has been the crackdown on certain types of hits in the interest of reducing concussions. What makes you think the NFL isn’t concerned about player safety?

Yeah, I’m confused by this as well. Safety has been one of the leagues chief concerns over the last few years, and most players say the NFL has gotten too safe! I can’t count the amount of times I’ve heard players complain that the NFL is turning into flag football.

Yeah, I’m not sure what you’re talking about either. A lot of the interminable commercials in this particular game came from the network not wanting to ghoulishly dwell on them caring for an unconscious player who might’ve been very seriously hurt.

In this case, Hobbs actually walked back out onto the field, although wearing a neck brace (he had surgery on his neck last season which was no doubt aggravated by the hit he took.)

What I think needs to be kept in mind is that until about 15-20 years ago or so, a lot of injuries involving the head/neck and concussions or unconsciousness didn’t carry the same kind of over-precaution on the parts of the medical staff. A guy would get knocked out in a game, they’d bring him to with smelling salts, and he’d wobble groggily off the field with the assistance of trainers/teammates. Now medical personnel have better information to work with involving the safety of the players. They also know that if a spinal cord injury has happened, the immediate response to that injury can be the difference between a wheelchair for life and a person being able to walk and carry on as normal. Rather than make judgment calls, all head/neck injuries are treated as if they were incredibly serious…and if they end up being more minor that’s just good news.

Giants’ D getting the better of the Eagles’ O now. And the Iggles are letting the Gnats off the hook.

Not so fast!

Wow, that replay call could have gone either way.

Geez. Yeah.

Meanwhile, in Tennessee, the plot thickens.

Houston radio is saying Texans might have shot at Fisher. Fisher is to report to Adams, in Houston, at 7:00am sharp per sources.

:O

Also, I gotta say I like what the Gnats’ defense is doing to keep the Iggles’ O in check. We’re not seeing it on TV, but they’re doing a lot of things in coverage that are making it hard for Vick.

I suppose “head-in-the-sand” is overstating it; the league is making encouraging noises on that front. However, it seems like there’s much more they could and should be doing, much of which we’ve talked about in this thread: harsher penalties for helmet-to-helmet hits, mandatory use of better helmets, etc.

I don’t mean any particular game. It’s the fact that you get a commercial break after every possession, scoring play, kickoff, timeout, replay review, and more. I don’t want to watch three hours of broadcast for eleven minutes of football and an hour of advertising.
