This is quite a pummeling the Pats are handing down tonight. The road to the Super Bowl in the AFC looks like it’ll run through New England.

Good news for Seahawks fans: Singletary has decided he needs to go back to starting Alex Smith at QB for the 49ers, starting this week! ;-)

Me too, that’s why I’m watching the Clippers.
Woooo, Pats! I love you, Tom!

I’m just basing this off of the FO numbers. And yeah the Cleveland game is a huge asterisk.
For 2007, the Outsiders had the Pats with an INSANE offense for the first half of the season that settled down to merely awesome for the latter part. This season, the Pats offense has improved. They followed up that Cleveland loss with a serious thrashing of the Steelers, who have a pretty good defense.
I don’t know if this Pats offense is really that good, but they just absolutely destroyed a Jets defense that’s regarded as one of the better ones in the league.
Maybe Rex will STFU for a day or so now…
I think I know why Rex is so angry about eating a snack now… 'cause it’s humble pie.

Football Outsiders is fine but you need to be careful about the conclusions you draw from it. Look at their rankings and then tell me how the Raiders beat the crap out of the Chargers yesterday. Which shows the flaws of just looking at statistics and rankings.
Yeah, like the Patriots defense.
A New York beat writer on NFL network prior to the game:
“The Pats aren’t as good as their 9-2 record.”
So very satisfying.

In other (slightly better) news, can you guys think of a recent head coach that has fucked up as badly as Josh McDaniels? Hell, look at this:
- Came to town and pissed off the franchise QB. Traded Cutler away.
- Traded away franchise WR Brandon Marshall
- Lost Peyton Hillis in a trade for gag Brady Quinn
- mini-spygate
- drafted Tim Tebow in the first fucking round
- got in pissing match with fellow divisional coaches.
I like how 3 of those are quarterback related - one of only a few positions the team had locked down when he arrived.
If Tebow had even a miniscule chance to succeed, that’s gone forever now. He no longer has his evangelist. The new coach will likely be resistant or even resent Tebow.
To be fair, Orton seems just as good as Cutler, possibly better. I mean, I know Cutler has more talent, but he also turns the ball over more. I’d give McDaniels a pass on this one.
And Marshall was a contract deal. That was a player unhappy with his deal and management refusing to give him a new contract. And Marshall sulked and acted like a child.
The others, though, yeah, are all on McDaniels. And the worst sin of all is that he wasn’t winning.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Broncos trade Tebow. Maybe they give him a shot at the starting job next season, but does anyone really think he will play better than Orton? I don’t.

Pop quiz: Do the Patriots RUN or PASS the ball insanely well?
Do the Steelers defend the RUN or the PASS insanely well?
Just sayin’.
In other news, I found this hilarious:
Unfortunately, per the NFL guidelines instituted earlier this season, much of what went on in the game was not acceptable. There were numerous player injuries in the game and the Ravens got away penalty-free with two blows to Ben Roethlisberger’s head – one breaking his nose – and a near-decapitation of a defenseless Heath Miller.
While James Harrison can expect to receive significant fines for all three plays, punishing the Steelers linebacker is no longer enough. The NFL must step up the restrictions.

The Outsiders give the Steelers the #5 passing defense in the league. And that’s after the Pats game.
Just sayin’.

Have you actually seen the Steelers’ cornerbacks play? It’s laughable. There is this huge, gaping hole covering short to medium crossing routes that Brady throws so well.
That’s the ‘blueprint to beat the Steelers’ mentioned above. Avoid their safetys, pray your pocket holds for the full two-three seconds, and throw to the wide open guy almost every single play.
