By the advanced stats, Pittsburgh’s corners are 5th against the opposing team’s top receiver and 3rd against the second-best guy. They are below average against other wideouts and tight ends. That says the corners are playing well. Now, I don’t know how Pittsburgh plays their corners, if they sit their top corner on the other team’s top guy (how the Jets play Revis) or if each corner plays his side of the field (Raiders and Asomugha), but the top two corners don’t look to be Pittsburgh’s weakness.

The Redskins decided to suspend Haynesworth for the rest of the season without pay. Since it will presumably be appealed by the union, it will be interesting to see what comes of that.
Man, I’m having a hard time picking the best part of the last 12 months of Redskins football. Is it the completely awesome Darrell Green #28 jersey I got for my 28th birthday? Is it how sweet burgundy and gold looks on anyone, a classy and stylish color scheme? Or is it that Madden 2011 lets you play in the old arrowhead helmets from the 1960s?
It might be that burgundy and gold, man. I want to get my wife some Redskins merchandise even though she’s not a fan – it’ll just look better than that bright Chiefs red.
The best part of the last 12 months of Redskins football certainly hasn’t happened anywhere near the field.
The best part of Redskins 2010 was Ryan Torain giving me insane points for one week in the fantasy league before I got rid of him only moments before he went down with an injury.
Man, I predicted the Skins would make the playoffs this year. I guess I should have known better, but it really seemed like this would be a good year for them… At least I’m not a Skins fan!
The best part was Snyder canning Cerrato…
Yeah, it’s not really been any fun to be a Redskins fan for years. I keep wondering if I’m doing my kids a disservice by indoctrinating them to be Redskins fans.
I thought we’d go 9-7, maybe 10-6, and make the playoffs as a wild-card team. This success would cause Dan Snyder to think everything was working, we’d get Brandon Lloyd again and whoever Adam Archuleta 2K12 is, and then we’d go 4-12 again and fire Shanahan. We’re skipping year 1 in that scenario now!

The Colts signed Dominic Rhodes to help out at RB because of injuries. Should be interesting to see what he can do to help out. Rhodes was playing in the UFL this season, and it will be nice to see him back in a Colts uniform.
If they could somehow prove that Albert was hungover during practice, that should be legit cause. I wonder if his general lack of effort is sufficient for the suspension. They should just bench him, and then they wouldn’t have to worry about the player’s union. Actually, they should have traded him when they had the chance. They’ve gotten almost nothing out of him, and they’ll probably end up trading or cutting him in the offseason anyway, but now teams will be offering even less for him.
What a poorly run team.
Haynesworth was dogshit useless in the last few games. Suspending him puts the nail in this season.
The only glass half full that I can see is that he won’t have a chance to injure himself before the season ends.
So the Skins can count on getting a 4th round pick in 2013 for him.
I think Shanahan gets 2 more years at least. This entire season was full off undrafted rookies and practice squad players starting games. Two more years of free agency and drafting.

I don’t get why some people are spinning the McDaniels firing as a “he might be just like Belichick,” arguing that he needed time to develop and might be better in his second head coaching job then his first (Belichick, of course, coached the pre-Raven Browns for a few years before getting fired when the team moved.)
The only problem with this approach is that McDaniels has been far worse with the Broncos then Belichick was with the Browns. Belichick was 6-10 in his first season (1991), then managed 7-9 his second year despite losing his franchise QB for half the year. Compare that to McDaniels, who traded his franchise QB away before his first season, managed an 8-8 record his first year, then clearly regressed this year and was fired with his team at 3-9. Not to mention the embarassing taping thing.
Comparing McDaniels to Belichick is a horrible idea.
I don’t think you can use the taping thing as a CONTRAST with Belichick.
Any Denver fans know what Tebow is doing? Is he running the scout team offense? I hope he’s doing something to develop NFL QB skills. Running the scout team would probably be the best thing he could do short of taking a lot of snaps with the first team offense.
I really doubt that McDaniels ever gets a HC job again in the NFL. Maybe he’ll end up in a college job and be successful and work his way back to the NFL like Carroll did, but otherwise I don’t see him as anything other than an OC for some team.
McDaniels didn’t merely draft Tebow, he gave up 3 good draft picks to get him; a 2nd, 3rd and 4th round pick. He went all Hershel Walker (*) to get a guy who most scouts openly doubted could ever start at the QB position at this level and hamstrung his team by giving away so much to get so little.
(*) Older Cowboys and Vikings fans will know what I mean. And hell, but at least Walker could play.
I think “all Ricky Williams” would be a more modern version of that sentiment.
Tebow may end up being a good player. I’m dubious, but you have to give him a chance. And yes, I agree that it was probably a mistake to draft him that high.
Denver may not even need a QB. Orton is pretty good.

Apparently Matt Cassell had his appendix taken out this week and is questionable for the Chiefs game this weekend against the Chargers.

C’mon, Brody can hand off almost as well as Matt!
