Maybe. The most important fact to note is that he’s an idiot.

Certainly.

Andy Reid said in the postgame press conference that they wouldn’t be resting any players next week because they need the work. That was said in between him sucking in humongous mouthfuls of air, of course.

I’d like that comic more if it just showed him already halfway through the “hot chicks” door.

I never followed the Favre stuff that closely, but why did the NFL concern itself with him running around (or trying to run around) on his wife? So he was firing on some chick? Is the NFL going to start investigating every player who has something going on the side?

No, they were investigating whether or not he sexually harassed her. She was a sideline reporter for the Jets while he was quarterbacking there, and one of the rumors going around was that Favre got her number from another employee.

It was an employee of the Jets, so it was a sexual harassment issue. They’re obligated to investigate as she could have brought a lawsuit against the league for hostile workplace.

Why does interviewing Tony Softli imply that?

I took the story to indicate that the owner is manager shopping first, not coach shopping first. Especially given the statements that the manager will be responsible for hiring the coach, I believe that he probably doesn’t have his heart set on one of the high-priced proven superbowl winning coaches available now.

Isn’t that the current vogue NFL model though now? Hasn’t the Holmgren “Give one guy all the duties” model fallen from favor? The Redskins were in the same position as the 49ers last year. They were a team without a GM. Vinny Cerrato was fired as VP, and Bruce Allen brought in as GM…and then Allen brought in one of the biggest-name coaches in the field by hiring Mike Shanahan.

The Rams hired Billy Devaney nearly a full season before Devaney hired Spagnuolo, and at the time Spags was considered the one of the hottest “current assistant” type coaches for a head coaching gig.

That’s all very true, but if you are hiring a GM first then you are probably not going to be offering the job to Gruden or Cowher (or possibly Harbaugh), guys who want some level of control over personnel and probably are going to get it from somebody. They would want one of their guys as GM. Similar to how Seattle hired Carroll and then hired a GM he was comfortable with.

I fully expect the 49ers will hire a hot assistant so hiring a GM makes sense, but I just think it takes them off the table as far as certain big names go.

Tucker Carson is a Fox News personality. If Obama had criticized Vick instead of praising him, Carson would be showering the Eagle’s QB with plaudits and wondering why the Prez can’t find it in his heart to forgive the poor, misunderstood kid.

Point.

Jets finally fined for something. Makes me happy. The number of fringe rules they broke and never got touched finally cought up with them.

Gotcha. Now I’m a bit confused about what her job was – she was a reporter but she was employed by the Jets?

Most NFL teams have an internal broadcasting group. Up here it is Kraft productions that do ‘Patriots Weekly’ and Patriots All Access (which looks like someone else does it, but is all Pats owned), do a daily podcast and a newspaper about the team. All owned and operated by the Pats.

John Fox is gone after Sunday.

I’ll be surprised if doesn’t end up as a head coach elsewhere in the NFL next year. He’s already been speculated about as a possible successor to Coughlin if the Giants make a move. So somebody will give him another chance. It’s unfair to blame him for the crap Panther teams of the last few years since he’s had no say on the talent for at least that long.

Yep.5
