I don’t think he lets Stanford put out that press release yesterday if he was unsure. Luck had to know that the odds Harbaugh was staying were small to nill.

His dad, Oliver Luck and WVU AD, was on a sports talk show here in North Carolina, explaining the decision. Oliver, who is an attorney, was explaining the CBA stuff to Andrew, who told his dad he “didn’t care,” i.e. that had no bearing on his decision. So, I would say no chance he changes his mind.

Oliver said that Andrew was a) influenced by his desire to get a degree and b) influenced by his “strong bond to his classmates,” i.e. the recruits he came in with.

This. This is why I am happy with the hiring of Harbaugh. That and I like his pro-style offense, emphasis on running the ball, his ability to mold QBs, and penchant for overachieving and winning games he wasn’t projected to win.

But mostly that. I hope it ruined Pete Carroll’s day to find this out (probably not).

That’s awesome, the narrator sounds a little drunk too or is that me? And its probably like one is $6 and the other is $7.25. The alcohol prices at A-list sporting events are just one of many reasons I stay away.

$7.25’s still pretty cheap, compared to some places.

According to Yahoo! Sports’s 2010 NHL Beer Cost Index, the cost for a 16 ounce beer (most likely Molson Export) at the Bell Centre (home of the Canadiens) is $9.72 this season. That’s more expensive than I was expecting; I think it was $8.50 or so last time I went.

Yeah, $7.25 for a large beer is peanuts at any sporting even these days.

Per a friend on Facebook:

at Qwest field, the taller is for Micro brews, not domestic. The price difference is for the beer, not the size as they’re supposed to be the same.

Ah, thank you for the info Orangist! I hope he doesn’t get injured.

That’s not according to what First & Goal (the private development firm formed by Paul Allen that helped build and run Qwest) said in a statement yesterday

“We received a copy of the YouTube video showing the quantity of liquid served in the 16 oz. beer cup is the same quantity that fits into the 20 oz. beer cup. This is the first time we have been alerted to this fact. Upon our internal investigation this afternoon, we discovered the cups that are marked 16 oz. hold 20 oz. of liquid. Fans who purchased a 16 oz. beer actually received 20 oz. of beer for the 16 oz. price. Fans that purchased the 20 oz. beer received the amount they purchased. We are working with Levy Restaurants to follow up with the cup vendor about the measurement and to determine how long this has been occurring at Qwest Field. We are determined to find a solution as quickly as possible. In the meantime, we will serve domestic beer in the 20 oz. cup at tomorrow’s playoff game to ensure all fans receive the amount they purchase, and we will charge the 16 oz. price.”

Ed Reed’s brother has gone missing after jumping into the Mississippi after being chased by police.

Let me get these OT rules straight: If you score a TD on your first possession, you win the game right? So I can’t see a scenario where you would defer, unless you have so little confidence in your offense that you’d rather it not be on the field. Do I have this right?

Correct. The only change is that if you kick a FG on the opening possession of OT, the other team gets the ball and a chance to score. If you score a TD on the first possession, or there’s a defensive score, it’s business as usual and the game ends. Everyone is still going to want the ball first.

The part of this change that’s interesting to me is that if a team gets a big play on the opening drive and they’re down around the 10, they’re compelled to do more than just kneel twice and kick on 3rd down. They don’t want to be reckless and risk a turnover, but if they’re in striking distance of a game-ending TD, they’re going to push a little harder than teams would before.

Yeah, turns out, not so much:

Probably not happy to be going up against him in the division, but apparently not bitter.

Source.

Yep, my friend was wrong :)

Ugh, c’mon, Hawks.

SEAHAWKS!!!

BELIEVE!!!

This game is surprisingly awesome.

I wonder if the Saints are gonna bother playing defense in the second half or just continue with whatever the hell it is they’re doing instead.

Before the game, I jokingly told my son Hasselbeck would throw for 500 yards.

Apparently this is the second playoff game ever where both teams scored 20+ each by halftime.
