Very good backup QB for sure, just don’t ask him for real estate advice…
I do notice, though, that that puts 5 QBs in the Jets roster at present. Gonna be some blood flowing when cut time comes.
I hate saying it…no, I mean I REALLY hate saying it…but the Jets have been run as a quality professional organization the past few years. What changed?

Good point Benny, they seem to have an actual plan each off-season, make good player decisions, etc. I am used to seeing them rise up for a season, then vanish for five years, but they seem to have their collective stuff together now. I’m okay with that, I like seeing them steal attention from the Giants.

Another good move by the Jets since Holmes is suspended the first 4 games:
Laveranues Coles will work out 4 Jets trmw, source says. Barring a snag, he’s expected 2 sign.
Ah. I thought you meant that they were similar as WRs. That’s the connection I can’t see. Off the field? I can see it, though TO strikes me as immature in different ways than Bryant. Bryant has a lot of needless anger. TO is just too emotional, but usually not in an angry, hateful way.

The similarity is just that they’re both talented on the field, but can be a distraction. I think Bryant has trouble swallowing his ego, because everything he said about Alex Smith is true even if it was counter-productive for him to confront Smith. TO also has trouble swallowing his ego, the difference is that TO is an idiot, and he’s gotten into fights with Pro Bowl QBs, which is a lot different than bitching out a first round bust. I’m not sure what happens when you put all three of them together, but I guess we’ll find out. Most likely Total Drama Lockerroom.
Not to mention the Bengals have Boating Superstar Cedric Benson, Rainmaker Adam “Pacman” Jones, Firearms Folklore Tank Johnson, and I know a few others I’m forgetting right now. The Bengals of old are back.

Good grief, I had no idea they had Pacman. I thought he was out of the league.
I guess they haven’t learned anything from their last… say, five incidents.

In fairness, neither Benson or Tank Johnson have had any issues since joining the Bengals. Just like TO had no issues in Buffalo last year. And we’ll see about Pacman, including whether he actually sticks.
I’m not a Bengals fan, but they have had some decent seasons and relatively few off-field issues of late.
That is mostly true. Cedric Benson was arrested last month for reportedly punching a bartender in the face.
Matt, you’re going to love this:
Albert Haynesworth performed well Thursday on the first part of his conditioning test but failed to complete the two-part process and did not pass, according to people familiar with the situation.
Haynesworth did so well in the first phase that one team source said he “killed it.” But Haynesworth apparently needed a lavatory break midway through the second part and was unable to complete the test after returning and starting from the beginning.
On Wednesday, Coach Mike Shanahan said Haynesworth would not be permitted to participate in training camp practices until he passed the test. The Redskins are scheduled to take the field for the first practice of camp in about two hours at Redskins Park. Shanahan plans to address the situation after practice, but Haynesworth is not expected to comment until he passes the test.
However, at least there’s this:
So now what?
Well, Haynesworth, who skipped all but one day of Shanahan’s first offseason program, must work with the training staff until he is able to complete the test. Several players said Haynesworth clearly is in much better shape than he was at this time last season.
Yay!
Don’t get on Shanahan’s bad side is the message here… hopefully this just a warning type deal and he’ll let him back in tomorrow or something. If not, the coach is now making the issue bigger.
Very clearly, that was the case. From what I’m hearing, it’s a 2 part test. Haynesworth killed the first part, and needed a bathroom break before the 2nd part, and failed that one. Shanahan then made him run the whole damn thing over again.
Per a league source (and forgive me if someone else has reported this, but power is out at our undisclosed beach location and I’m trying to conserve the battery in my laptop and my Sprint mobile hot spot, which is performing incredibly well during an intense barrage of lightning), Haynesworth completed the assigned pair of 300-yard shuttle runs, but Shanahan then decided that he had too much rest between the two attempts, due to a bathroom break.
The source says that Shanahan told Haynesworth that he “needed to get in shape.” Haynesworth then said that he couldn’t have completed three 300-yard shuttle runs even in his Pro Bowl/All-Pro years.
Said Shanahan in response, “I guess you have never been in shape then.” (It’s unknown whether Shanahan then said, “Boom. Roasted.”)
It’s currently our understanding that Haynesworth was the only lineman required to pass the conditioning test.
Lol. Awesome.
It’s currently our understanding that Haynesworth was the only lineman required to pass the conditioning test.
Interesting. That kind of takes it from “Haynesworth is an out of shape slacker who gets special treatment because of raw talent” to “Shanahan is being a dick.” The obvious question is, can most linemen pass the test?

Shanahan is laying down the law. He is showing Haynesworth that he won’t take any of his shit. Shanahan is essentially saying “because of how you have acted in the past, I expect even more out of you”.
I like it.
I like it to an extent. If he pushes it too far, he loses Haynesworth for the whole year as a disgruntled player. If he comes back tomorrow and takes the test again and passes and all is forgiven, then it’s a great move. If it’s just another way to piss of the already surly player, it doesn’t make any real sense.

I have a hard time believing the NFLPA is going to allow Shanahan to single out Haynesworth with special fitness requirements. The 'Skins need to be careful in that regard.
Looks like Shanahan is going the being a dick route.
Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has failed his conditioning test for a second day in a row, team sources say. The team hit the practice field for the second day of training camp Friday morning, and Haynesworth was not among the group that took the field for the start
of practice.
Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said Haynesworth would not be allowed to practice until he first passed the team’s conditioning test. Haynesworth made his first attempt at the test on Thursday morning but couldn’t pass.
In his comments following Thursday’s practice, Shanahan didn’t seem like he’d be willing to ease up on the test requirements. It’s believed Haynesworth was required to complete two 300-yard shuttle sprints.
“It may take a week,” Shanahan said. “We don’t know. …The only thing I can tell you is that when he does pass the test, I’ll feel very good that he can go out there and compete at that position.”
Look, I dislike Haynesworth as much as the next guy, but come on.
