I hope it isn’t true. I want to see a Favre-lead Vikings pound the Packers into the ground one more time.
I’ve heard something very similar from a Sooner message board.

Yeah, well, everyone looks like a superstar without pads on. Ask anyone in Oakland about Darren McFadden.

Doesn’t Favre have to say this so he can miss camp? I’ll believe it when he misses the third preseason game.

Don’t expect to see anything else on ESPN today.
The one constant is that Favre doesn’t want to go to camp.
It is possible that ankle is still beat up. If it doesn’t feel right, if it still hurts, I can see Favre hanging it up.
It has to be hard on the Vikings, though. They can’t even really make a move for another QB.
Mort said the Vikings feel Tavaris Jackson is ready to start.
I think that after last season, which was possibly Favre’s best season ever, that his foot and ankle will have to be in such bad shape that he can’t even push off it for him not to come back. And this is not so that he doesn’t have to go to camp, the Vikings had already said they didn’t need to see him in camp until the last week.

Yes, but you’d expect that from the paperclips. What’s more surprising is hearing the same kind of respect for Bradford coming from your more highly educated and wiser brethren on the other side of the Red River. ;)

Yeah, this seems an actual legit retirement by Favre. But if I’m a Viking fan, I’m pissed. Sometimes players do retire around this time, usually because of an injury not healing up or what not, but Favre’s history makes doing this a different scenario.
If they are pissed, it should be at management, not Favre. He was clear with them from the end of last season until now, it was all going to depend on how the ankle healed, and the coaches and management knew it all along.
Who knows with Favre? Maybe he wants his teammates and coaches to beg him to come back?
He did have a great season last year, so if he feels he can play I don’t see why he wouldn’t. The ankle really might be bad still, and if it is, it probably isn’t getting that much better in the next month.

I know he wore this visor just because of some eye irritation, but part of me wants Peyton to keep it for the rest of the season. He looks like some kind of unstoppable football playing robot.

I have never before in my life been scared of Peyton Manning.
I am today.
He IS an unstoppable football playing robot.

losing games. That is the end of that sentence.
Jackson will do some things with his legs Favre can’t do, but yeah, the rest of his game is inferior to Favre’s.
I wouldn’t say the Vikings will lose under him, though. It’s just that Favre would likely take them farther.
Being ready to start and being able to replace Brett Favre are two different things. If Minnesota wants Jackson to be the QB of the future he’ll have to start some time.
Word is the Lions finally reached an agreement with Suh – $60m over five years, with $40m guaranteed.
