Eli is a good QB. He’s gotten better most years he’s been in the league too.
stunned!
By all reports, it did sound like he was done and the Vikes went to work to talk him back into it…that said, it’s still more off season melodrama. At this point, someone needs to pass a new NFL rule like, “Brett Favre can’t play after this season” so our national nightmare can end already.
He’s just havin’ fun out there!
This IS awesome news for my fantasy team. Now I have to be happy when he does something right. Dammit!

You are so goddamn gullible. How many times does Favre have to “retire” during training camp and unretire once the two-a-days are over for you to see the pattern?
My biggest worry is that Favre will break his streak of throwing an interception to end his career with three different teams. That sort of awesomeness needs to be preserved.
I did say “by all reports”. I don’t believe it either.
Hockey players don’t play second halves! :)
Do you really think the Vikings wouldn’t have let him sit out of practice if he asked? I mean, jesus, he could even say his injury was still healing.
I think it’s pretty clear by now that he’s just sincerely waffling like crazy, which is understandable. On the one hand, you’re still super-great at what you do and you legitimately enjoy it and they pay you a lot of money and hell, you’re only 40, so you’ve got your whole life stretching out ahead of you to be retired in; on the other hand, you hurt like hell and you know that doing the job is destroying your body and it’s not like you need the money.
Sitting out practice would be nice. Staying home with family and friends would be even nicer.
Favre wants to play, but more than that he wants to be wanted. He’s as much of a prima donna as T.O., only he puts it in an aw-shucks package.

I’m expecting Albert Haynesworth to attempt to take a page out of Brett’s book next summer.

Please please ESPN, don’t have an hour long show to let us know about Favre’s “decision”. I’ll never watch ESPN again if they do that.
He tried doing that this year, but Shanahan totally humiliated the fatass.

Another day, Pete Carroll gets rid of another USC guy. Former first round Lawrence Jackson was traded away to the Lions for some late round pick.
Carroll definately isn’t giving the USC guys any breaks.

Did you watch the preseason game? He looks pretty good. He’s not still around because the Seahawks are letting him get by, he’s around because he’s in the best shape he’s ever been and seems finally committed to living up to his talent.
They’ve cut or traded way too many other USC guys to think that is a factor in why Williams is still on the roster.
Yeah, there was even a story on him (linked above I think) about how seriously he’s taking it this time around. I’m hoping he not only makes the team, but is good…because the 'hawks could use some damn receivers already. Branch as their #1 guy has been a travesty. I am looking forward to him playing in the slot this year though. He can catch and run routes, he’s just not good enough to require double teams all the time.
And LeGarrette Blount punches a teammate in the helmet, which is doubly dumb since about all he can hurt with a helmet punch is his own hand.
Guy needs some anger management. You can bet other NFL teams will trying to get under his skin during the regular season. Nothing like a 15 yard penalty to kill a drive.
