That may bother him all season. Those sprains are nasty.
A touch early for this, but this is a brilliant site.
10,000 times better than espn, etc. for actually figuring out playoff scenarios and important games.

Thanks for the link Walter, looks interesting.

Yeah, I saw that. They are being pretty vague about it, though, so who knows at this point. What sucks is that the Seahawks have minimal depth at the tackle position. Ray Willis was the first option, but is injured. Mansfield Wrotto is the current backup, but it’s very clear that they have minimal confidence in him as they are pushing the idea that Chester Pitts, who they just signed, will hopefully be ready for the season opener.
Yeah, have fun with that.
Before this, I was trying to be optimistic about the Seahawks season…now I’m just hoping it’s not abysmal.

No kidding. A healthy Okung made me fantasize about the admittedly unlikley chance that they might win 8 games, but now I’m dwelling on the negatives and how despite all the roster turnover, this is still 75% the same team as last year in terms of the starters.
With Kroenke’s purchase of the Rams doesn’t look like they’ll be moving back to LA any time soon. I guess they can still hope for Jacksonville…

Jacksonville and Buffalo are the teams most likely to move, with the Vikings the dark horse.
Is Buffalo still playing half of their games at the Rogers Centre this year?

No, they have just one “home” game there this season.
Buffalo is one of the most stagnant markets the NFL currently plays in. Meaning, zero population or economic growth. Ralph Wilson is the only guy who has ever owned the team, and he’s publically stated that he doesn’t think Buffalo can work in the current NFL economic reality. On top of that, Wilson is in his 80s and his family will not inherit the team when he dies - it will go on the open market and end up in all likliehood being sold to someone with no ties to the area. The stadium is one of the league’s oldest and there is zero activity about replacing it. Finally, the lease is “year to year” at this point with the team having escape clauses after every year.
The general consenus is that the move to play some games in Toronto is an experiment (at the league’s insistence) to see if the team can expand its market. A Toronto/Buffalo franchise could still be viable, but I don’t know that you will ever see the team moving to Toronto if only because the NFL and CFL have long had a relatively good relationship. It could happen, of course, but I think its more likely the next owner would move the team out of the region altogether then move it to Toronto. The next owner could even be the guy in LA who has the approval to build a stadium with private money as part of a larger retail/residential development. That guy has already said they are in the “looking for a team to move” phase. If he ends up buying the Bills I don’t see the league blocking a move if the Toronto market expansion fails.
As for the Jaguars, there is this recent article from a major national sports website. Plus the guy who wrote Field of Schemes, one of the most cited books about pro sports stadium issues, even thinks Jacksonville is in trouble. And that’s despite the stadium lease being nowhere near its end.

Interesting rumblings about some high profile QBs being possible preseason cut casualties:
Colt McCoy
Matt Leinart and Pat White
I don’t see the Browns cutting McCoy. If anything they’d find a way to trade him.
Leinart just doesn’t look good. I watched the last game and the offense definitely had more spark when Anderson was in, even though he missed an open receiver in the end zone.

What I’ve heard is that the article that started all the speculation about Colt was an Cleveland columnist (who doesn’t like Colt) making conjecture, also based on rumors that Mangini doesn’t care for Colt.
Seems to me that Mangini has less of a future in Cleveland than Colt does.

Yeah, but the Cards might as well forfeit the season if they end up cutting Leinart now and starting Anderson.
And while McCoy may have more a future then Mangini, Holmgren had a habit in Seattle of drafting QBs that never panned out. The only QB he actually “developed” in the whole time he was here was Seneca Wallace, and he’s a career backup at best. While I’d be surprised if Cleveland gave up on McCoy after one training camp, I’d also would not be surprised if he sits on the roster as #3 for a few years and then is quietly cut later.
Yeah, I don’t see them cutting Leinart. I think he starts the first few games and if he doesn’t perform he gets benched and Anderson gets a shot. I do think this is Leinart’s last chance to start in the NFL. If he botches this, he’s a career backup.

Oh, I don’t know about that. If he were cut I wouldn’t be shocked at all if Carroll went after him. I wouldn’t even be shocked if Seattle traded for him if the Cardinals actually tried to move him. Replacing JP Losman with Leinart would not exactly be a hard move to make; hell, if I were the Cardinals I’d trade Leinart for Losman straight up! Whether Leinart would justify another shot is something else, however. ;-)
Maybe. But Leinart is not good. Watching him against the Titans…it was pretty bad. The Titans were putting a lot of pressure on him, but he didn’t handle it well at all. And when he had a bit of time, he didn’t make the throws. One preseason game isn’t enough to judge a guy, but he just wasn’t commanding the offense.
I would actually be surprised if Pat White didn’t get cut.
Yeah, I think if Derek Anderson could show a bit more consistency and accuracy, he’d be the starting QB. Leinart has had a lot of games to show something and he’s never showed much of anything.
If Arizona doesn’t get good QB play, it really does look like the Niners are the favorite in the division.
