Balls!

He also put a good hit on the RB in the backfield, and presumably had about 8 other tackles that looked routine. How about Navarrow Bowman though? We may finally have an heir for Spikes.

Last year both Hightower and Beanie looked good running the ball until they fumbled, and then they got benched until the other one fumbled. I think they went back and forth like that a half dozen times last year. Whoever learns to hold onto the ball first wins that job.

Stallworth couldn’t win the #3 job in New England opposite Randy Moss and Wes Welker, I don’t think he was really going to be the #3 this year.

Caught a little bit of the Denver game. Saw Tebow on a couple of drives.

The bad: He has reverted to his college throwing motion. His windup is still too long and on one pass the DB jumped the route and picked him off on a sideline pass and ran it back to the 4. If Tebow doesn’t learn to deliver the ball quicker this is always going to be a potential hazard. On another pass he got the ball off, but a rusher coming from his blindside was a split second away from hitting him and probably stripping him of the ball. He was holding it down by his hip again.

The good: He threw a couple of nice passes and marched the team down for a TD.

He still doesn’t look like an NFL QB to me. His old throwing motion, which he is using, is too slow. And I don’t really think his ability to run will mean as much in the NFL as it did in college.

There’s a chance this is gamesmanship by Shanahan et. al - to force the cowboys to do prep for both QB’s

One does not prepare for Rex Grossman. One merely shows up, rubbing one’s hands together and cackling gleefully.

Even though he was a dirty Cowboy, I have a ton of respect for Randy White; one of the all-time greats. He and Russ Grimm (one of my favorite Redskins of all time) used to have just battles in the trenches. Though it’s about Grimm beating Randy (and as a Skins fan, I cherish those faint memories of winning football teams), there’s a great story about Russ and Randy you can read here.

Bryant was actually injured when the Bengals signed him, he was coming off knee surgery and whomever the Bengals trusted to check him out gave them a far rosier report than the facts would end up proving. Basically he needs an entire season of rehab to be ready to play at this point. What a waste of $8mil. Someone should get shitcanned over the whole thing, especially since I’ll be paying $10 instead of $8 for my beers at Paul Brown Stadium to cover the loss for Mike Brown.

I’m glad Quan Cosby is sticking around. He’s been a great return guy, and has potential as a slot receiver too. Even with Ocho and T.O out wide and Shipley in the slot there will be opportunities for a 4th receiver and hopefully Cosby can cash in on them. Jermaine Greshem (TE) has been looking good recently as well, making the Bengals passing offense the scariest it’s been since '05. With defenses respecting the pass, I know Cedric Benson has to be salivating at the opportunity that presents at the line.

Geez, I’d forgotten that Cincy picked up Gresham, too.

Great story. You’d better send a man to Canton if he can do that to Randy White. :)

It definitely pays to have attitude if you play OL.

Hahaha, thanks for that post, it gave me a much needed chuckle.

Oh, sorry folks, got the schedule mixed up. The suicide league signups will start NEXT Monday.

That makes more sense. I was wondering why you were starting it so early. Thanks for doing it again!

It’s been assumed for some time that Seattle might cut Deion Branch this training camp. After all, he’s hardly done anything since he was acquired, been injured a lot, and the new regime has no reason to be loyal to him. On top of that, between drafting Golden Tate and the apparent resurgence of Mike Williams, receiving seems to be an area of depth, so why pay Branch big money when this is the uncapped year to take the cap hit.

As of today the rumor mill is rumbling away that the team may very well cut a high priced receiver. But instead of Branch, the rumor is that Housh may be the one they jettison.

It’s going to be an interesting year.

Wow. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Rams make a grab at Housh if he’s cut. They are very thin at WR.

If they do cut him I’m sure he’ll end up somewhere else quickly. It really comes down to whether what he provides the team is worth what he is being paid given the other receivers. Housh is a nice receiver, but he’s not a #1 type guy and is probably being overpaid to be a possession receiver.

Starting with exhibition week 4 would’ve been kinda harsh, but funny :)

If I were the Seahawks, I’d cut both Housh and Branch. Neither of them were worth the price.

I wonder how much the Hawks are hedging their bets re playoffs. With Kurt Warner retired, the division is wide open; every team in it is terrible. The Hawks might be able to BS their way into the playoffs with a couple of lucky wins - I think a 9-7 record wins the NFC West. Hell, 8-8 probably wins it. Maybe even 7-9 (which is my dream scenario!)

Mine too!

Seattle would have to be lucky and both San Francisco and Arizona would have to under perform. It’s theoretically possible, but not something that is likely. In particular, I think the 49ers will be solid either way.
