Lloyd used Force Pull.

Not a fan of color TV, huh? I know, it’s relatively new, but I think it’ll catch on.

Happy for the win. In between the penalties the defense, particularly the D Line, played well. I picked the Broncos in my pick ems but so did everybody else:)

Can we get back to discussing the Raider uniforms? At one point I thought their strategy was to make their uniforms look very similar to the refs’ uniforms so they could pull some cool plays by trying to blend in with the officiating crew.

Also: Brady: he’s not bad, I would keep him.

Also: Dilfer’s commentary on the second game did make me want to gouge out my ears. Fortunately, I watched that game mostly by fast forwarding between plays, so I didn’t have to endure too much.

Wow. Oakland had 15 penalties called on them? That’s impressive.

That’s not impressive, that’s Oakland.

Exactly. And just like every other coach before him, Jackson swears he’s going to get the penalties down. I honestly think that Davis tells the players that Davis is fine with all the penalties. “Just win baby” To me it’s embarassing and disrespectful to the game.

This week set the record for most kickoff/punt return touchdowns in a single week, eight.

Aw yiss.

Heavens, the announcers for DET/TB were awful. Who was doing color commentary on that game, and can they be barred from calling any more games? Every guy is a winner, everything he said is great (“A lot of guys didn’t like Josh Freeman being taken in the first round but I knew it was going to be the right decision immediately”), and he has my pick for the most baffling call of a play yet.

On a punt return. “Now watch out for this guy, he’s 5’6”…" and that’s it. “Look out, he’s short!” and then nothing else for the remainder of the play.

Have you seen the latest ESPN / Fantasy Football commercial?

Fuck Star Wars

“See you in the playoffs.”

“Can’t wait.”

So apparently a fight broke out in the stands during the Cowboys/Jets game. Not a big suprise, though some of the circumstances are. First, the fight supposedly has its roots in a group of Cowboy fans who chose not to stand and take off their hats during the national anthem (on the 9/11 anniversary, no less) and this angered a Giants fan in their row who was also a veteran. Then, when a melee broke out at halftime, it turned out one of the Cowboy fans had a taser with him. Which is illegal in New Jersey for a private citizen to own. And of course this got through stadium security (on the 9/11 anniversary, no less.) The Cowboy fan is some legal hot water, but the whole thing is pretty interesting from a stadium security standpoint.

Also, looks like the Raiders did to the Broncos something similar to what they did to the Seahawks last year, namely beat them up pretty badly. At least four major Bronco starters are going to have MRI’s today to check the status of injuries suffered: Dumervil, Bailey, Moreno, and Lloyd.

Normally, I’d be the first one on that bandwagon, and cheering for others to get up on it. Loudly, and with a lot of invictive directed toward the name of said bandwagon. So, I’m put in the frankly strange-for-me position of defending Romo in this game. Dallas isn’t even in this game if not for Romo. He put up nearly 350 yards on one of the best pass defenses in the league from last year. He did so behind a line featuring 2 rookies and a brand new center; a line and running backs, by the way, that only got 64 running yards. He did so knowing that he’s got to because the Cowboys defense is one more injury away from pulling the nearest guy in the stands that looks fast and has a Texas accent to play at corner.

Romo didn’t punt or block on the line for that blocked punt. Romo didn’t put an obviously hurt Bryant out on Revis Island while tied late in the 4th quarter. Romo did lose a fumble (trying to run in for a TD a well covered play), yes, and Romo did throw an interception that ultimatly caused the Jets to win, true. However, Romo put the team on his shoulders and damn near carried them to a win. That’s more than I’ve ever seen him do.

Just thinking about it troubles me, but I’m considering picking up Grossman on my fantasy team to start ahead of Eli Manning and Sam Bradford this week. That Arizona secondary just seems so vulnerable.

Agree, Romo should not have played it safe instead of diving for the end zone and getting the fumble but he is not the sole reason they lost that game.

This is almost exactly what I wanted to say after the game, except for your very last sentence which makes me want to kick you in the crotch. ;)

It did feel good to vent for the first time regarding Tony, and I stand by my comments about dressing and acting like a pro. The rest of my rant was just adrenaline inspired anger over losing a game that was well in hand in an extremely tough situation. Also, If Witten didn’t get called down inside the five we wouldn’t be having this discussion, he was soooo close to sealing the deal. I love that guy.

Also also, I still don’t understand what the hell was going on with Dez, he ran like 43 year old me after the first quarter and he was still in the game in the fourth quarter when it all went to hell

Bradford might be worth benching. He bruised his throwing hand and his best receiver, Danny Amendola, is out with an injury.

As to Manning, he’s going up against the Rams and we are very thin at corner now that Ron Bartell is out for the year with two breaks in his neck.

In week 2 of last season Tom Brady lost to the Jets 28-14. He had 2 TDs, 2 INTs, 1 fumble, was 20/36 for 248 yards with a 72.5 QB Rating. One of those TDs was at the 3 yard line and the fumble was off a sack with 4 minutes left in the game, which secured victory for the Jets. The Pats were held to 52 total rushing yards. If that had been the Cowboys and Romo, people would be clowning on Romo for that INT and especially that game-icing sack fumble. Instead, they just lauded the Jets defense.

Tom Brady then went onto be the first player to win the MVP award unanimously. I am not calling Romo Tom Brady but I think we need to give the guy a few more games to make a fair assessment on him. Using one game against the tenacious Jets defense in a game played at New York is a rough assessment of any QB.

I’d like to know what the fuck a clearly injured Dez Bryant was doing on the field in the fourth quarter, because he sure looked like a liability to me.

I can’t decide if you plagiarized my Dez comment or didn’t read my post and came to the same brilliant question on your own.

Heh.

Woops missed it, sorry! I did, though. Dez looked horrible.
