I wouldn’t classify this as one of Tony Romo’s greatest victories, beating Washington* at home with six field goals. Obviously Jaworski disagrees with me.
*Quarterbacked by (the) Rex Grossman.

“Shanahan doesn’t use his last time-out…”
Of course he doesn’t. What good would it do? Delay the kneel-down by 30 seconds?

Romo: “Costa said ‘they kept calling out the cadence’”?
What does that mean? The Redskins defense was simulating Romo calling for the snap and tricking Costa into snapping it? If so, that’s crazy.

Well, on a night the most challenging play the Cowboys faced was the center-QB snap, why not force one more and hope for fumble #5? :)

Considering the circumstances of this game, the injuries Dallas fought through, the missing players Romo didn’t have to help him, the injury Romo was playing with, the fact that Washington openly talked for a week about hitting him in the ribs and taking him out…yeah, I’d say it was a pretty gutsy win for Dallas, and one Romo will be justifiably proud of.
A lot of people disagree with you. Including me. he didn’t just beat Washington, he beat his injury and his own goddamned team.

So why are the Colts being so stupid about their QB situation? Collins, even when healthy, clearly isn’t taking them anywhere. And Painter? So why not take a shot at Garrard, who while flawed at least has put up decent seasons at the position. Indy’s insistence on rolling with “old guy who can’t play” and “young guy who can’t play” when they supposedly had a playoff team around Peyton is so irrational it almost makes me think they are intentionally trying to tank the season just to get a high draft pick now that they aren’t so expensive.
Considering all the crap he went through this week, the beatings he took as the QB and the injuries to the rest of the team (not to mention himself), and oh yeah the horrendous QB-center relationship, beating the TWO AND OH Redskins was pretty a good accomplishment. And if wasn’t for Romo, they wouldn’t have been in position for most of those field goals.
Don’t go nixing a victory based on Grossman being QB. Not like Washington was performing any better without him. He was the starting QB for Washington and led them to a perfect start for the season.

I think this was a tremendous victory for Romo, really. He’s was already under fire from the week 1 debacle, rallied his team back with broken ribs and a punctured lung last week, and now this week, when his team made a zillion mistakes, he was out there holding the whole thing together, chasing down mistimed snaps and directing confused receivers and somehow converting 3rd and 21s and getting his team into position to win the game. I thought it was a great, gutty performance.
Collins has had much better seasons than Garrard. There are probably at least two problems. The first is that Indy’s offense is supposedly complex – you’re not going to get a guy off the street and have him learn the playbook in a couple of weeks. The second is that Indy without Peyton is only above average on talent, and in some areas (O-line) actually pretty bad.
Basically, what it boils down to is that the Colts aren’t going to go anywhere with Collins, Panter OR Gerrard, so why bother spending the extra dough for no real benefit.
The players may not be in the “Suck for Luck” sweepstakes, but the management is probably already thinking that way.

So Steve Young is saying Grossman will be a “Top 10 QB” by the end of the year. Top 10 in years old, right?
I sincerely believe that Rex Grossman will be a Top 10 NFC East QB by the end of the year.

What’s so complex about it? Get the team up to the line of scrimmage with the play you called in the huddle, do a fake count, look at what the defense is giving you, change the play with a lot of hand-waving and shouting, throw the ball to Dallas Clark or Reggie Wayne or Austin Collie or Pierre Garcon. Duh; anybody can do that.
