Holy Crap, I just realized that the Bills lead the league in scoring.

Interesting short piece at PFT where Belichick talks about his interview with Al Davis for the Raiders job back in 1998. Belichick seems to think that Davis exclusively hires offensive minded coaches for the head job because of his (Davis) more direct involvement on the defensive side of the ball.
Davis coached the Raiders himself from 1963 to 1965, and in the nearly half century since then he has earned a reputation as a hands-on owner who, for better or worse, wants to get personally involved in how the coach does things. Belichick confirmed that that was his perception of Davis.
“You kind of don’t want to give too much information because, you know, he’s running the defense. He wasn’t really too interested in talking about offensive football,” Belichick said.

Davis is 82 years old now though. I don’t think he has (as) much to do with the defensive play calling as he used to. He also doesn’t seem to be interfering as much as he used to. A couple of years ago I would see a number of plays that seemed very strange given what the Raiders were trying to do, and I just assumed they were Al Davis plays. I didn’t see that last year and haven’t seen it this year. Things are just running more smoothly now.

A couple of NFL related deaths today:
Mike Heimerdinger, most recently offensive coordinator with the Titans under Jeff Fischer, died.
Peter Gent, one time player but most famous for writing the semi-fictional “North Dallas Forty” has also passed away.
Holy shit NFL Sunday Ticket is bad this morning. I think we’re streaming at – maybe 100k right now? My goodness.
And now it looks better. Go Skins!
I spoke too soon. Hung again. Dammit.
I’d say I’ve seen about 30% of the opening quarter thus far, spending the rest of the time watching a little spinning bar. Very frustrating.

Dez!
This game could turn into Romo and Stafford just lobbing balloons to Dez and Calvin all day, which could be pretty fun. :)

Or Romo slinging to Dez and Stafford to the Dallas secondary.

So, Titans/Browns is the only early game on here. With Marv Albert as the announcer.
Hey Marv - dying your hair light brown and whatever plastic surgery you’ve had done doesn’t make you look young, it makes you look like a freak.
Sunday Ticket has completely given up. I am not happy.
In an alternate universe, Adrian Peterson is the most feared linebacker in the league.

Did Daniel Manning used to play for the Raiders? That was certainly a Raider-esque penalty. Geezus you block a man in the back who is already 15 yards from the play, thereby preventing your team from scoring a touchdown. Good job.

The Titans are just manhandling the Browns. Hopefully that means a shift to a more competitive game is coming up.

So, Minnesota is down at the half. Does this mean they might actually win this game?
Yeah, I’m getting Marv Albert as well, and while he has nice sounding voice for announcing, the mind behind it leaves something to be desired.
The game is a good one, though. I mean, other than the Browns losing, mostly by giving up a handful of big plays. That kind of sucks.

You know, Jaguars are looking pretty good. Gibbert’s been doing decent and Saints are just up 14-10 after first half.

He actually hasn’t been out of football announcing as long as it may seem, as he was doing the radio Monday Night Football game the last several years. But yeah, he has embarrasing chemistry with Gannon. The joke about the sweater they started the broadcast with and have referenced at least once since is not anything I’m interested in hearing.
And the Rams are starting to look “Suck for Luck” bad.
Amusing stat of the day. The Bears lead the Panthers 24-20. There’s been a lot of criticism of Martz over the Bears abandoning the run so far this year. Today? Four pass plays, twelve running plays.
Solid chance that the St. Louis Rams might be worse than the 1-15 team from 2009. These guys are dreadful.
