The Eagles sent Ronnie Brown to the Lions. Sounds like the Lions have concerns about Best.
I think this is the most trading deadline action we’ve seen in years in the NFL.
I don’t know why everyone hates Jerome Harrison so much.
Best got a concussion in the Niners game.

I know. That’s what I was referring to.

Apparently that was just Jimmy Traina joking around on his twitter.
It says something about the Raiders that pretty much everyone believed it, though.

When you throw around first round picks like halloween candy, a lot of dumb things seem plausible.
Seriously is there anything the Raiders would do that would be out of character?

Trading Run McFadden would not be in character for those of us that follow them closely. They like a nice running game and Bush is really more of a full back.

The Palmer trade could pay off for both teams like the Seymour trade did.
While I’m no Campbell fan, I do feel for the guy. If he hadn’t gotten injured, the Raiders wouldn’t have made this trade and likely would have signed him long term. Now, he’s out looking for a job next year.
He really does have the worst luck ever.

I would love it if he would be willing to re-sign as a backup. With Palmer’s history, we may need a capable backup at some point.
There are only a few teams that would be interested in him as a starter it seems. Some teams have QBs that are not great but probably are held in as much or better esteem than Campbell. I think he’s destined to be a backup going forward.
I know we’ve already hashed out this argument, but I feel compelled to reiterate how awkward the officials-only-review-plays-called-scoring-plays rule is. Jim Harbaugh gets a penalty (Comically classified as a Delay of Game penalty IIRC) for throwing a challenge flag (yes, he should know the rules, I get that) after the officials conferred for a good 30 seconds to a full minute deciding whether or not to rule a Lions TD catch as a TD on the field as it was ripped out of Pettigrew’s hands by Patrick Willis after he had hit the ground.
I don’t even care about the flag (although I am not sure why the officials can’t just tell the coach No and be done with it. Do they flag head coaches for other accidental violations?) really. I just think it’s ridiculous that you have the entire officiating crew huddled in the end zone deciding whether or not to call it a TD so that the referee can then jog over to the IR booth and look at it again.
Meanwhile, Jim Schwartz is forced to throw a flag on a Burleson catch after the officials waved it off because he let the ball go after catching it with full control and coming down in bounds before rolling out of bounds into the goddamned goal post net (which should be stored somewhere else). It was almost exactly like the infamous Megatron “non”-catch from week 1 of last season.
Penalizing a coach or forcing him to throw a flag over a scoring play or potential scoring play is decided by whether or not a ref puts his arms up. It’s dumb.
When the season began, I loved the idea that every scoring play was reviewable. As the season has gone on, I’ve come to hate it because now you’re at the whim of the replay adviser all the time. Penalizing a coach for throwing a challenge flag on those plays is idiotic. For the rest of this year, whenever a team thinks that a TD shouldn’t count but it doesn’t look like the officials are going to review it, the defense should pull a Perry Fewell and lounge around on the field faking injuries to give the officials more time to see some replays and think maybe they should look at that controversial play they’re ignoring.

I’ve seen coaches simply call time out in those cases. I don’t have an issue with it myself. Coaches should know better than to throw flags after the play is over while they are already reviewing the play. Oh but wait, it’s Harbaugh. Guess that’s the way he rolls.
(only half kidding)
Well here’s the funny part. I’m not sure he even threw the flag. He might have just buzzed them. If you buzz and then go oops sorry guys do you still get penalized? Because that’s ridiculous.
Also coaches do a lot of things in the heat of the game that the officials let slide even though “they should know better.” It’s unnecessarily punitive. How does “Coach you can’t do that” interfere with the flow of the game in any manner?
You can make fun of Harbaugh all you like :) I don’t care how he rolls as long as it keeps SF winning games, something no other Niners coach in the last 10 or so goddamned years has been able to do. Nolan’s suits and Singletary’s bare ass failed to do these things.

I’ve never seen nor heard of coaches being able to simply buzz the officials. That would be dumb because who knows if anyone hears the buzz? I’ve always seen the camera focus on the red flag.
I certainly can relate to having a bunch of lame ass coaches for your team leading to more losing seasons. Particularly when your team used to be a perennial playoff contender. Both Singletary and Josh McDaniels for the Broncos proved to be 99% bullshit and 1% knowledge. Why are these types of guys hired? Who knows. Just glad both the Raiders and the Niners got back to some coaches who actually know today’s football game.

The NFL has way too many stupid rules about what isn’t reviewable. I forget exactly what he said, but during the review of the safety the replay specialist said something like they were only looking at the position of the ball, because the ruling that the QB was in the grasp was not reviewable. Which is just retarded. What if on the exact same play, they rule that it wasn’t a safety? Now the defense has to challenge, but maybe they can’t because the refs ruled he wasn’t in the grasp and that’s not reviewable.
There’s way too much focus on protecting the officials and the gamesmanship of using challenges, and not enough focus on getting the call right. And it’s patently ridiculous that they will automatically review a play ruled a touchdown, but the offense has to burn a challenge if it’s ruled not a touchdown.
The red flag was on the field, fwiw.
Thanks. I’d like to know if buzzing is considered enough at any rate, I’d hope not.
EDIT: Never mind, coaches don’t have the pagers anymore.
