The man needs to get himself some Red Zone. Even my girlfriend can’t get enough of that channel.
I like NFL Rewind. I can watch games with no commercials and just jump to the next play at the conclusion of the previous one.
This means the Cleveland-Seattle game will feel like it’s only nine hours long.

How do you get Red Zone?
And I think if Hue Jackson knew at the half what he knows now, he would have left Boller in there to take his licks and saved Palmer. Everyone, the Raider fans in particular, is mad now.
EDIT: They aren’t as mad as the Charger fans are at Norv Turner, I will say that:). Someone accused Rivers of playing as if he were Stevie Wonder. That was pretty funny.
I did watch a LOT of games early on, that’s true. I think I’ve got Red Zone with NFL Sunday Ticket through the PS3 – I’ll check on that.
Red Zone, Bowyer.
Red Zone will cure what ails you.
I’m looking forward to round 2. I though yesterday’s game would be a blowout and was pleasantly surprised when it wasn’t.

Yeah, if you have Sunday Ticket, you get their version of the Red Zone Channel, which is just awesome. And if you have a big enough TV, you get the Game Mix with 8 different games splitscreen, which is just football nirvana. :)
I don’t think I could handle that. I’m also pretty sure the PS3 version of Sunday Ticket doesn’t have the Game Mix. That’s a bit much!

Maybe the best thing about Game Mix is that, underneath the video for each game, there’s an arrow that shows who has the ball and where on the field they have it. So even if a game is in a commercial, you can tell the status of all the games in about 5 seconds – who’s moving the balll, who’s close to scoring, etc. It’s crazy awesome.

The Dolphins can’t get that channel.
The Skins are not as bad as their 3-5 record would indicate. (Preposting this for 11/7/2011)
The Redskins are not as good as their 3-3 record would indicate.
Damn Titans. The AFC south is pretty awful this year. Texans will be able to cruise to the playoffs, looks like.
And yeah, the Colts built their whole team around one guy. The defense is built to hold leads, not get a team back into a game. Without Manning, that whole team loses its identity. I’m having a lot of fun watching it, except for the growing feeling that they might get Luck. Still, even with all the hype, I seriously doubt that Luck will be as good as Manning was. Just very unlikely. Manning may be the best pure QB we’ll ever see. I’m not saying he’s the best player at QB (Brady, Brees, Rogers would all contend). But in terms of commanding the offense and elevating everyone around him, Manning is amazing. He’s just such a student of the game. Luck isn’t likely to match that.
But I will still be bothered if the Colts get Luck. Fortunately, the Dolphins and Rams are also quite awful and will compete for that number one pick. Would the Rams draft Luck?
I am bummed. I thought they’d sneak out with the AFC South title.
I’d say no. It’s just too close to drafting Bradford. That team has other needs.
Agreed. Bradford’s one season from winning Rookie of the Year, and is in a new system with a new offensive coordinator with no wide receivers and no practice time thanks to the lockout. I’m not saying he’s playing well – I like to trot out Football Outsiders to make my points for me, and even they have him as sub-Grossman – but he’s not the sole reason St. Louis is absolutely awful this year, and drafting Luck would not vault them up the standings like drafting an actual offense would.
Dolphins maybe, but no one guy they’re going to get is going to make them a good team. And like Bill and Matt point out, the Rams have other more pressing needs than at QB.
Okay, I don’t follow college football, and I’m hoping this hasn’t already been asked and I’m just forgetful, but is Luck really that good? He’s being talked about as a franchise savior already, in week 7 of the preceding season. What makes him so much better than past QBs expected to go first overall, or just very early?
I think the Colts have also been suffering from poor draft picks recently, and Manning playing at the top of his game is the only thing hiding this from the world to see. I suspect if the Colts really do run the gamut and fall behind Miami, St. Louis, and the dark horse contender Jacksonville (plays Colts twice), then I imagine they’ll take a hard look at Manning’s long term health. If he has several years left, they’ll trade that number one pick for somebody’s plantation.
Maybe St. Louis would as well, since I think they have a pretty good quarterback already and have desperate needs elsewhere. Miami, however, has been hunting for that franchise quarterback for a while now.
Except for the Pats’ Super Bowl loss, this gets about 1 minute of thought every season.
And the only reason that got more was they are a division rival.

He would have been the #1 pick last year and, barring something extreme, will be the #1 pick this year (assuming he comes out). The scouts say he’s the best QB prospect in the last 10 years, at least. That doesn’t mean he’s a 100% guarantee, but he’s as close as you get and the new rookie wage scale means he’s not the huge financial committment #1 picks have been in the past.
It’s pretty safe to assume the Rams would trade the pick and the Dolphins would keep it. But I do wonder what the Colts would do. The assumption right now is that they would take Luck and keep him on the bench as Peyton’s successor. And yet, Peyton just signed that new contract, so its not even as fluid a situation as it was when Favre was year to year (and talking about retiring) and the Packers took the falling Rodgers late in the first round. Peyton’s new contract is for five years and a lot of money each year as well. And even at reduced rookie numbers, can they really afford to pay a #1 pick QB to potentially wait his full contract?
In terms of the Colts as a whole, they’ve been on the decline for a few years anyway. Even with Peyton, they’d only be a 9 win or so team anyway. Don’t forget how unstable they looked at times last year. They really need a major infusion of talent. If they believe Peyton has a few more good years in him, then they’d arguably be better off trading #1 to someone else to surround him with much better talent.
