Shutupshutupshutupshutup…

That never happened!

If I draw Omni’s name for Secret Santa, I’m sending him a David Tyree jersey and a blowtorch.

I got the full NFL Game Pass. I really like it. (Especially since the timezones make some games nigh impossible for me to watch live.)
Not only do I get every game, but I get Red Zone and a semi-game mix thing as well. And the games stay recorded for a month or so.

Did I tell you the best part? It has a really good iPad app. In more than adequate resolution.

“I’ll just watch the first quarter, honey.” is way more acceptable to my wife if I say it lying in bed with the iPad than sitting on the sofa in front of the TV.

I think it’s the fact that he has the natural talent of a top QB and he’s a student of the game. He’s a smart kid on and off the field, he’s an engineering major of some kind and is a workaholic.

This upcoming draft class of QBs is supposedly vastly superior to the 2011 class. Even with Luck going #1 overall, Matt Barkley if he comes out and Landry Jones are a very close second and would very likely be picked in the top ten too. So there are enough high end prospects to go around for teams that will want to draft them.

Yeah, I’m looking forward to the Barkley/Luck match up this weekend. Nice preview for those of you interested in up and coming QB’s.

The way I know I’m getting old is that I remember Andrew’s dad as a rookie.

In 1984 Oliver Luck threw twice as many touchdowns as interceptions!

This may be relative to the NFL soon, so its interesting to note that it looks like Michigan decided to pass on Les Miles (again) when they changed coaches last year, as opposed to Miles saying no to them. So at this point Miles has no real “dream job” he might be waiting for, unless he really wants to stay at LSU, meaning he may be more likely to listen to NFL offers in the future.

And apparently the paper in Indy thinks Caldwell is going to take the fall for this season. I wonder if Polian’s kid (who is the actual GM now while Polian is team president) will pay as well?

After the debacle last night, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Caldwell go. I mean, c’mon other teams manage not to give up 62 points without their starting QB, the Raiders only gave up 28!

Really what is going on with the Colts? I know it’s a huge hit to the team losing someone like Peyton, but man the year the Pats didn’t have Brady they still managed to go something like 11-5. Not that I’d expect that, but I would have thought they would have been closer to 50/50 instead of winless.

Yeah, but 28 Chiefs points are about the same as 62 Saints points.

Nuh-uh. You’re just wrong :) :) After 6 Raider INT’s, I think 28 points is actually damned good for the defense.

Over-abundance can have that affect. Just pick the threads of the season you want to focus on and stick with those. I can switch over and watch all of the Lions and Bills games at will, which is something I would have never considered doing before the season. With the market limits they now have, I really like having all the games at my fingertips. As an aside, when did the NFL go to one game per time slot? Seems like there were always two games per time slot, until there wasn’t.

Ironically, this season the GF has picked up on Red Zone and loves it. It has the exact opposite effect for me, though. It’s akin to watching next-day highlights while the games are on live. I just can’t get into any game by watching slices of all of them.

This is a great way to catch up on those marginal games that I don’t care enough to watch or record but can be good filler during the week.

They’ve been on a steep defensive decline since the Superbowl appearance in '09, though. That year they had the 8th best defense in terms of points allowed. Last year they were 23rd, even though they actually scored more points. This year they are dead last so far in points allowed. Pull Peyton out of that mix and the offense drops off so much there is no way they can overcome it.

It doesn’t help that every team they’ve played so far this year has a .500 or better record at this point.

Yeah, they weren’t a great defense to begin with, and add in the fact they seem to be on the field for more of the game and playing from behind (as opposed to having the lead going onto the field) it’s surprising, but not overly so.

From DC: SEX CANNON DOWN.

The counterpoint to that is that if you get a shot at a legit young talent in the QB position, you should take it, or you’ll turn into the Redskins and suffer two decades of futility. And Peyton will be 36 at the start of next season.

Heath Shuler, Patrick Ramsey and Jason Campbell all 1st round QB picks of the Skins.

Who are these strange, teal-clad men, and what have they done with the Jaguars?

This game is soooo boring. Going back to the WS.

Does Baltimore just play up to the level of their opponent?

That stadium is painfully empty. Whose idea was it to put a team in a swamp?
