Heh. What’s funny, Blackadar, is that it’s uncertain from both the way you and that linked report (on Fox Sports no less) whether you are inferring that Coach Fox or Fox Media is doing the saobotaging. I got a very P & R vibe there for a second.

I guess when we see Tebow on the bandwagon for a conservative christian candidate or when we see rampant “Tebowing” at the next Tea Party rally we’ll know for sure.

Why doesn’t the media give fair coverage to Tim Tebow’s 9-9-9 offense, or the Fair Passing Plan? CONSPIRACY!

Hello. I’m Tim Tebow. You may remember me from when I would run for touchdowns with the Gators and Broncos. Today I’d like to talk with you about a run for office…"

It worked for Heath Shuler.

The announcers were doing that during the game a lot, too. “This play-calling isn’t doing Tebow any favors.” Well, yes, he’s not calling a lot of passes; if you have a dude who demonstrably can’t throw the ball, that’s what you do. The coach is basically in the unenviable position of either trying his best to win the game (which means keeping the ball out of Tebow’s hands), or of trying to prove to the audience that he’s doing everything he can to give Tebow a fair shake, even if it costs them games.

Foxy is in a bit of a no-win situation until Tebow proves that he’s not a capable NFL QB.

If he calls plays favorable to Tebow’s style - a game plan full of shotgun passes and rollouts - he’s going to be accused of trying to get Tebow hurt. There’s a reason no one plays that style in the NFL, not even with a talent like Vick or Cam Newton behind center. It’s because you’ll get your QB killed in the NFL. Defenses are too big, too fast and too smart for a simple spread/rollout offense to work.

And it would have to be a simple offense. Tebow and Denver doesn’t have the talent to pull off a gameplan built on that type of offense. Heck, only a few teams can pull that off. The Patriots can do it. The Steelers showed yesterday they could do it (and Big Ben still took 5 sacks). Green Bay could do it. New Orleans on a good day. But does anyone really think Tebow could handle the decision-making, line-reads and accuracy necessary to run a spread? Does anyone think that Denver has the OL and WRs to make the plays in that kind of offense?

If Foxy runs what the team can do (which ain’t much given the horrible drafts the last few years), he’s accused of sabotaging Tebow’s chance at greatness. sigh

I’m not John Fox fan at all, but he’s in a no-win situtation with the fans wrt Tebow (I don’t think he’s in that situtation with the Bronco’s front office however, or at least not for that reason). Considering how lacking Tebow’s accuracy is when going past 15 yards, any NFL caliber defense is going to look really good.

That being said (and again mentioning that I do not like Tebow as a NFL QB) he wasn’t playing defense for the Broncos. I think it was the first touchdown where Stafford has the freedom of Denver to throw the ball to an absolutly uncovered reciever in the end zone?

So perhaps Tebow should retire as a QB and run as the GOP candidate for Prez? He’d probably do better at that than at QB. Well I’m sure the Raiders will welcome a spread offense next Sunday if that’s what they decide to do.

I say run the goddamned spread and if that fails well, at least you know now.

I see Fox didn’t call any jump passes. Sabotage!

…and expect to see a lot of TEBOW DOWN tweets.

Oh well!

Also yesterday almost shaped up to be a classic NFL Any Given Sunday type weekend, where teams tired of losing throw everything they have at getting a win. At least it worked for St. Louis, and it couldn’t have happened against a nicer team. Sorry, while I respect the Saints as a team I think Sean Peyton is kind of an asshole.

They’ll just blame the offensive line for not running the spread properly. They are in a lose-lose situation with the Tebow fans.

Just curious…what makes you say that?

I don’t have much of a dog in the fight, but I give Peyton a lot of credit. Monday morning, win or lose, he’s on the NFL Sirius channel at 8:00 AM talking about the game. He never blames anyone or singles anyone out. He’s calm and collected and sounds like a coach I’d want to play for.

Sure. Honestly my suggestion was geared more towards trying something that Tebow might be able to succeed with.

He’d have to wait a while, you can’t run for Prez until you are 35.

He could probably run for dog catcher or something.

The Patriots cannot beat the Steelers on Halloween. It is known.

Tim Tebow would have 400 yards passing against the Patriots defense.

They tried that already. It was called “Tebow rides the pine”. :D

Looks like criticism of Belichick in Boston is beginning to rise, basically focusing on the defensive issues and personnel decisions.

RE: Seahawks. Not that it likely matters much at this point, but Pete Carroll has admitted that Tavaris Jackson is best with a no-huddle offense (along with the rest of that side of the ball since it helps cover their flaws) but that approach doesn’t work for Charlie Whitehurst. That’s a problem because Jackson’s injury is not likely to go away soon, meaning they have to prepare for either guy week to week for the forseeable future. The next two games are at a flawed but presumably angry Dallas and then home against the far superior Ravens. 2-7 here we come.

It’s now Week 9, and Belichick’s defense is only better than a team who got 62 points scored on them. The Patriots are going nowhere in the playoffs with a defense performing that badly. Belichick is supposed to be a defensive coach and he’s failing badly at that. I can’t imagine anyone seriously calling for his head at this point, but like all fans, Boston fans want a SB ring, or at least an AFC title, and they won’t get that this year unless some miracles occur.
