I think the QB position is one of the harder slots to draft for. Anyway, there have certainly been a lot of first round busts or picks who are no better than journeyman QBs.

If the Chargers moved at least it would be easy enough for San Diego fans to go to the games. Maybe instead of naming the team the LA whatevers they could be the Southern California whatevers.

Anyway, it’s getting ridiculous with the stadiums. How can Minnesota and St. Louis afford to build billion dollar stadiums like the bigger city teams are doing? The St. Louis stadium is only about 25 years old, too.

Edit: Er, the stadium is only about 16 years old! Think about that – needing to build a new stadium so soon. It’s crazy.

They can be the USC Pros!

And of course the main feature of the stadium for the AEG bid in LA is that it will be ‘privately funded’. But of course not really, as the taxpayers will be on the hook for the re-do of the Los Angeles convention center (currently a piece of shit) which will directly support the stadium Now that Al Davis has passed away, there is more likelyhood of the Raiders moving somewhere as Oc stadium apparently is also a piece of shit. Naturally if I have to put up with a team, I’d rather it be the Raiders, but seriously I’d rather not have a team at all.

I suspect the NFL wouldn’t mind having the Raiders move back to LA now that Al Davis is gone, but thats obviously up to his son and wife to decide so who knows.

Robiskie ended up with the Jaguars, who put Sims-Walker on IR.

And Beck was officially sacked 10 times last week? And has 13 sacks in 83 passing attempts? And people thought Grossman (9 sacks, 165 attempts) was bad . . .

Just a guess, but I bet there are a lot of tax incentives too. That’s lost revenue.

The NFL is a monopoly. They use that power well.

A Skins fan site had a breakdown of the sacks, and it became pretty clear that all but 1 of the sacks really was on Beck. Brutal.

Are you pining for the halcyon days of the Sex Cannon yet, Bowyer?

Not Bowyer, but I’m starting to pine for the days of even a QB like Tony Banks…

Who was the last good QB Washington had?

On a different tangent it’s interesting to me how Ryan Fitzgerald has developed into a good QB. It didn’t happen overnight, but he has improved over the years and now seems like a very solid starter.

Sonny Jurgensen?

You could make a case for Brunell in '05, but beyond that you’d have to go back to Brad Johnson in '99.

Single years, in other words.

Trent Green? Brad Johnson?

So is it fair to say the last really good QB might have been Joe Theismann? Maybe Mark Rypien?

Man, just shows how hard it is to get a really good QB, and what a difference it makes.

I remember watching Super Bowl XXVI with my folks, who were at the time Redskins fans (from their years in DC). They had some friends who were die-hard Bills fans, and would call them and serenade them with the 'Skins fight song after every score.

Rypien doesn’t count, he’s Canadian.

Brad Johnson put together a great year for Washington. We had Trent Green and Rich Gannon both stationed on our bench at one point. The last QB to have steady success in Washington was Mark Rypien.

I think I’ve made it clear on this site, though, that I was a Jason Campbell supporter. The problem in Washington was never Campbell, it was his awful supporting cast, both in talent (Santana Moss and the Pips) and coaching (JC’s revolving door of celebrity coordinators).

Well you may get Jason Campbell back, who knows?? He’ll be a free agent next year.

I know, the poor guy simply cannot catch a break. Does someone collate stats for unluckiest players?

I was talking to a guy yesterday who is from India, and he got a Patriots 19-0 Super Bowl cap last time he was back over there. Apparently the NFL takes all the merch they make up in advance for the losing team and ship it overseas to poorer countries.

I want to get one of those and wear it around Boston with my trollface on.
