What the hell happened in that game? The Rams actually missed that FG at the end of regulation?

It was blocked.

Yeap, my voice is gone.

GODDAMMIT PATS!

Mike Tomlin had to be thinking “Not this shit again” until he saw that flag.

Yeah Rodgers is incredible.

And that was a great Sunday night game too.

So after this current weekend so far, what would the top 5 QB ranking go?

Rodgers >>>>>>>>>>>>> Brees > Eli > Roethlisberger > Brady ?

Rodgers is pretty much untouchable in the QB rankings. He’s just playing at a whole other level right now.

Eli isn’t a flashy QB, and he’s been mistake-prone in the past, but he’s been pretty consistent in his 4th-quarter and 2-minute drill abilities. It’s like he kicks it into another gear when it’s the 4th quarter and the Giants are down.

How much that is worth in the overall assessment of QBs, though, kind of determines how highly you’d rank him. As a Giants homer, though, I think he deserves extra points this week for playing without his #1 RB and #1 WR.

I’d personally go Rodgers > Brees > Brady > Eli > Ben right now.

I feel Eli doesn’t get enough credit. He definitely has his moments of inconsistency, and he never really looks like the guy in charge, but he makes some amazing throws and when the game boils down to the 2 minute drill, he seems to kick into another gear.

For me it’s

  1. Peyton Manning
  2. Rodgers

No one else is close, right now.

That’s a good point about Eli - he doesn’t look like someone you’d want leading your team. He doesn’t really project strength and confidence, he has that tendency (worse in his earlier years) to get that hangdog look when things aren’t going well, and he’s just too baby-faced, overall. He doesn’t have that “killer instinct” look to him.

If Eli looked more like Brady, or Favre, or Peyton, or Rivers, would he generally get more respect as a QB?

Willis mcgahee would like to have a word with all the commentators saying Tim tebow was the best running back on the Broncos before today’s game. I’d also like to thank him for carrying my fantasy team to victory after espn predicted him for one point.

Neither Jackson or Carson play run defense. When you give up 280+ yards rushing, you have a defensive problem, not a QB or offensive minded head coach problem.

Either way it doesn’t look like anyone wants to win the AFC West this year. What a joke. At least the Chargers kind of have an excuse today.

So after watching that Packer game and nearly having a heart attack (you’d think a 21-point lead with 8 minutes left would be totally safe, not require a heroic last-second interception), my first instinct was to think that there’s no way the Packers can possibly win in the playoffs with a defense that porous.

But then I thought about it more and wondered if that’s actually true. Sure, the Packer defense can’t stop anyone this side of Tim Tebow, but the offense is phenomenal; and what team out there right now has all the pieces put together? The Patriots aren’t a more complete team, the Packers have already proven they can beat the Saints, the Steelers and Ravens are inconsistent, and I can’t really take SF or Detroit seriously as contenders at this point no matter what their records are.

Still, it’s troubling.

Didn’t the Rams win in their “greatest show on earth” heyday by essentially having an unstoppable offense?

Ok Shaughnessey, fire away. Pats are doomed.

As strategies for winning a championship go, unbeatable offense plus mediocre defense does a lot better than the alternative. (I think the Ravens are the only team in recent memory to win with a bad offense.)

Still and all, I’d prefer something more like the '96 Packers, where a great offense combines with a great defense, with a touch of great special teams as well. But I realize that I am sitting here being worried about an 8-0 Super Bowl champion team, so I’ll stop before I turn into a Patriots fan.

When they actually won the SB they still had a top 10 defense.

What prevents him being in that discussion is not his douchey mopey face, but his inconsistency. Right now he’s on a hot streak, but until he actually maintains it for a year, it’ll be regarded as a hot streak only. Remember the dude threw 25 picks last year, so it’s not like he’s strung together several consecutive superlative seasons.

The Patriots of the past few years have something to say about this.

In general the problem is that if your offense has a bad day you are fucked. Look at the pats over the past few weeks.
