Both of those games had Kerry Collins at QB, so you can toss those out.
Man, those are some so-so teams there. You might want to mention that over their last three games they’ve been outscored 120-24.
Have you seen the rest of their schedule? If they don’t win next week hosting Jacksonville, it’s hosting the Panthers (I have no idea why people think this is a winnable game), at New England, at Baltimore, hosting Tennessee (with Cop Speed apparently back on track), hosting the rolling Texans, at Jacksonville. I grant you 1 game maybe but 2 I highly doubt. Plus they lost Clarke Sunday.
It won’t. Jackson was given a lot of power in the wake of Al Davis passing and the word is he isn’t handling it so well. He’s openly threatening to cut guys and replace them with waiver wire dudes and it is not sitting well with the players.
That is quite the Haynesworth pout.

Haynesworth has been cut by the Patriots.

You know, if I was the Lions I might take a look at the guy. Maybe he’d be energized from a move like that.
It’ll be interesting to see what other teams kick his flabby tires.
Like he was energized when the Pats signed him?

The Lions do actually run a system that Haynesworth would be a fit for, if he was motivated to play. I don’t know that the Lions need to jeopardize their team chemistry, though.
Aren’t the Lions in good shape at DT? I wouldn’t risk team chemistry on a team that has a good shot at the playoffs with Haynesworth unless the need is big.
And c’mon, if you don’t let the guy be the defensive coach and decide just where and when he is going to play, he pouts.

I just threw the Lions out there because if anything is going to get Haynesworth to care it would be possibility of playing with a good line like that. And he might embrace the “bad guy” image the Lions, and Suh in particular, seem to be acquiring. Plus, the Lions have been casting their net pretty widely lately in terms of looking for possible additions, including supposedly bringing in as many as 24 guys last Friday for workouts.

Well, he did move several yards there. He was clearly exhausted.
On the other hand, no matter how much money you are being paid it eventually has to sink in that you are playing for the Dan Snyder Redskins and that there is no hope. ;-)
Florio at PFT notes that Haynesworth might be interested in the Dream Team, since his former line coach is there and supposedly wanted him. Are the Eagles that desperate? Maybe.
The Lions are in fantastic shape at DT – if you were to list the positions where they might be looking to make improvements, it’ll be down at the bottom of the list with K.
Haynesworth must be tired, probably needs to just take the rest of the season off. He’s played in 133 of 561 defensive snaps for New England. That’s an exhausting amount of playing time for someone who can’t run more than 10 yards without being winded!
I’m not sure who would want the guy after seeing Bellichick being unable to get much out of him. Maybe the Titans? Maybe his old teammates could keep him in line?
The guy is 30. Some players are washed up by then.
Interesting article in the WSJ about a camera shot the NFL will not allow fans to see, the “All 22” that shows all the players on the field in a single view.

I’d love to see something like this because you could really see the defense at work and see the routes the receivers were running. The NFL is afraid it would open up the players and coaches to too much fan criticism. They have floated the idea of charging $100 a year to see it.
The lack of all22 is a serious problem for NFL fans and impediment for potential enthusiasts. The idea that its for the protection of the coaches is malarkey. NFL thrives on second guessing just like any sport. The reason it isn’t available is because the average viewer wouldn’t be interested. If the NFL is refusing to release the all22 it’s because they see it as a valuable asset and want to extract ‘platinum’ fees out of fans while preventing football fan sites from posting images from the all22. There’s no question that some of the public will get to see the all22, it’s just a question of how few the privileged will be.
I guess that explains why the SNF webcast doesn’t have that view. (If you haven’t looked at it, they have a great website where you can choose from like four different camera angles, in addition to the main broadcast. But that’s not one.)
The worst thing about this play is not shown in the gif: Vick eventually rolls back to the left and if Haynseworth had not wheezed out, might have sacked him or at least blocked a route so someone else could have.
I’m surprised they don’t let the networks at least use it a few times a game in replays. How much could it hurt?
