You know it’s not impossible for the Broncos to win their division and have the best record in the AFC West overall. It’s not likely but it’s possible. I bet they have the best division record but not overall record. Because that will annoy people the most.

I’ve always thought that a young quarterback needs to build confidence as soon as possible, if you want to have a chance to develop him(meaning working on his weaknesses).

In Tebow’s case, he’s getting a chance to build the confidence of winning. I bet that helps a lot with his teammates too, do they really care if it’s ugly as long as they’re winning? So with this early success he might be able to afford the time to work on the passing. Someday his stats may read "8-12 125 yds 2tds!

Are you sure you aren’t describing Tebow here?

No. Sanchez looks like Aaron Rodgers compared to Tebow. Tebow hasn’t completed 50% of his passes in any game this year.

Has anybody ever done this? I’m thinking a combination of conventional thinking and player expectations (both from the QB’s and the rest of the team) might prevent this from working.

I was reading a while back about how Tony LaRussa tried something slightly analogous in baseball with 3-man pitching “pods” instead of a traditional starter-closer system. Apparently the pitchers hated it because it screwed with their stats.

Now a days its Starter-Relievers-Closer(if the team is winning by 3 points or less). Occasionally a particularly durable pitcher will have a good performance and stay in longer.

What exactly is 3 pitcher pod? Have every pitcher throw for 3 innings?

As bad as Vick was as a passer in his rookie year, iirc he was still miles ahead of Tebow.

Man I love the Pats/Jets rivalry.

No. No,no and no. Vick was raw, but he has an amazing arm and the ability to make spectacular throws on the run. The real question mark about Vick was his ability to read defenses and do more than sandlot football.

Even Vince Young was a much better passer than Tebow coming into the league, and he’s not a very good passer.

Tebow is just a much crappier version of either of those guys, the only reason he drafted high was because of his aw-shucks good character perception and his insane fan base.

It’s that fan base that drives me nuts. “Tebow looked really good yesterday, his receivers just keep dropping passes.” “How 'bout that Tebow?” “He just wins, that’s the only stat that matters.” GOD

That was awesome. I love both those coaches, both Ryan and Bellichick. If anyone hasn’t seen A Football Life with Bellichick, they should. Especially the part where him and Brady are discussing playing against Ed Reed.

Peter King today was doing the whole “look at us so-called experts saying Tebow couldn’t play, and the dude just wins” thing.

No. The team won, against lousy opposition, and despite terrible terrible QB play. Tebow is not part of the reason for their success, he’s the factor they’re overcoming to win.

The maddening thing is, I want to say, wait until he plays an actual good team and they’re shellacked 45-10 – but that already happened, and apparently it’s been forgotten.

I couldn’t read MMQB this morning for that very reason. The Broncos have beaten three dysfunctional organizations and were clobbered into irrelevancy by an actual football team. They play the Jets this week – I’m hoping this looks much more like the Lions game, Tebow gets benched, Brady Quinn finishes out the year, and the whole NFL can just move on.

I looked it up and the answer is never (since the realignment).

“He looks like he’s guessing more than he ever has.”
“And that’s saying something.”

“… those receivers just run right past him and he doesn’t even flinch.”

The article in question, staring midway down the page.

The weight of the article is about how the Broncos have adapted to get the most mileage out of what they have.

Yeah, and lots of credit to Fox for that. But King is taking Fox’s pronouncements too much at face value. You know that in his own head, Fox is less “this guys’ a great talent, and we just need to orient our offense to enable him to be successful” and more “how the fuck do we win with a QB who can’t pass?”

Regardless, I give props to Fox for overhauling their offense to give them the best chance to win. I criticized him earlier for not doing that and I am impressed he has done so now.

Looking at the Broncos remaining schedule I’d have to say 8-8 is a probably a pipe dream but not impossible.

The great part is, they are saying those things as compliments.
