I would think he wouldn’t be, since he was already ejected and his punches merely hit Doucet’s facemask and helmet.

The SF defense is absurd. +17 turnover differential and still no rushing TDs allowed. I have a feeling that streak is gonna end Thanksgiving with Ray Rive but I am hopeful about the game. It’s time for bad Flacco to show up!

I’ve seen every eagles game, and he’s done a pretty good job actually. Maybe he’s lost a step— im not overly familiar with what he looked like day-in/out in oakland. That said, he has been pretty good in philly, generally shutting down whoever he’s been assigned to.

The eagles’ problem on defense isnt covering wide receivers— week after week they do that very well. Where theyve gotten gashed in in the run game, and in the intermediate passing game— on passes to running backs and tight ends— exposing what might be the worst line backing core in the NFL.

Individually, what Nnamdi’s problem has been (and what separates him from revis) is in his struggles when the eagles coaches try to move him around, put him in different positions depending on the scheme. He’ll freelance one play, go into zone the next, then man up the top receiver on 3rd down.

Specifically. Nnamdi has had trouble (as in tonight’s, and in the previous giant game’s cruz touchdowns) playing effectively in zone. He gets lost in zone and ends up looking like a rookie. From what i hear, he never played zone in oakland.

This is all exacerbated by the fact our other corner (asante) is inflexibly unwilling to play man, which has somewhat dictated the game away from nnamdi’s strengths. And all of this is umbrella-exacerbated by the fact we have a o-line coach as our defensive coordinator.

So no, far as i can tell nnamdi is still an elite corner. The alarming regressions for the eagles are desean jackson and mike vick.

Edit: Speaking of desean, you have no idea how much I hate/tolerate him right now. The taunting call was BS, should have been after the play, but come on, you toss the ball at the other team’s coach? He certainly deserved to lose the 50 yards.

LOL, seriously… that’s more than sorta funny, given the whole draft drama surrounding those two (and Leinart). :D

Good grief, that’s both bad coaching and bad scouting. I hadn’t heard the specifics before, but that certainly doesn’t sound like he’s regressed. A better coordinator might be able to scheme for both of them, but bottom line is that he just doesn’t fit their defense and shouldn’t’ve been signed. There are a lot more zone and cover-2 corners out there than elite man corners, and they come a lot cheaper. They just wasted a lot of money on a tool they don’t use, might as well have bought a $60 million bread maker.

The hope is that next year, when asante is traded, we’ll use DRC and nnamdi as pure outside man corners. Unless the eagles win the next 6 games(and even then), the current defensive coordinator is probably gone. Reid will probably be back as long as the team makes a run.

Guy takes a lot of flack, but… yes. This, literally. Bizarre.

Yea, why it negated the play really puzzled me. If it was an unsportsman like penalty after the play, that doesn’t negate the play. If it’s excessive celebration after a touchdown, that’s tacked onto the next kickoff. I’m somewhat baffled why a post-play taunting negates the play.

If he runs for -1 yards, can he then taunt all he wants because no team is going to accept the penalty and negate that play?

That AFC west race looks like a good one. It’s not inconceivable that the Broncos could finish 4-2 or even 5-1.

@ SD - SD can’t seem to win anymore
@ MN - AP may be out
Chi - no Cutler
NE - loss
@ Buff - now playing like the Buffalo we expected
KC - Cassel might be out

Oakland’s schedule is a bit tougher, though not by much:

Chi - no Cutler
@ Miami - the Fins are winning lately
@ GB - loss
Det - the Lions are roaring this year
@ KC - no Cassels
SD - who knows about SD these days

Too bad Denver and Oakland don’t play one another.

HaHa I think the Raiders and the Broncos have seen enough of each other this year to last the season at least.

And I take back my criticism of those 1st Quarter Raiders defensive penalties, what is this the Hello Kitty league or something? Geezus.

Detroit vs Green Bay is the first compelling thanksgiving day game in my adult life, I think.

Agreed. We are actually going to be leaving in plenty of time to be sure to see the start (it’s the first game, right?)

Kickoff is 12:30 EST.

Yeah, its the early game.

So those three personal fouls on one drive (and still got a field goal) were bad calls? I only heard about it on the radio, I was really hoping it meant the Raiders were returning to old-school Raider form.

We sure are seeing a lot of namby-pamby shit get called this season. I’m waiting for them to put flag belts on the players…

I believe the Raiders are on pace to set the all-time NFL record for penalties.

The roughing the passer and the unnecessary roughness were ridiculous. They said the unnecessary roughness was for hitting the player in the head except there was no contact with the player’s head. Sheesh.

We have an hour and a half drive ahead of us, so that means we are leaving at 8AM to make that game. (Setting alarm).

We’re hosting Thanksgiving this year, and this game is a major part of the festivities. Should be awesome.

It is baffling, but apparently, that’s the official rule. If a play ends in a touchdown, as you pointed out, the dead ball infraction gets assessed on the kickoff; if it happens on any other sort of play with another penalty (even during the play) the penalties offset. Worse yet, the eagles couldnt choose to decline the giants penalty to gain the +35 yards they wouldve had even with the infraction— two penalties automatically offset, with no other options/decisions for the coaches.

So essentially, the giants were rewarded for their penalty. Had they not fouled an eagle, the play would have counted.

Hopefully this will cause a rule change, obv.

I think all three of them are, actually. Miami is rolling lately. Matt Moore’s stats over the last 3 games are in the top 3 of any all QBs over the last 3 games, up there with Rodgers and Brady. Dallas is likely for real but I bet the game will still be entertaining. And who knows who will win Baltimore/San Francisco.

I remember complaints a year or two back that Detroit and Dallas should give up their Thanksgiving traditional games and give them to better teams. Glad that didn’t happen. Detroit couldn’t have stayed down long and this Thursday should just be a fun day of football all around!

To be fair, Detroit DID stay down long. No playoff appearances this century, the NFL’s only winless season post-merger, the existence of Matt Millen, etc. Detroit’s resurgence this year is so wonderful because they were down for so long.
