They also sold the team too it seems Jaguars Sold

Also, I agree with the late hit penalty, while it was a brutal hit, it was a terrible call. I think they called a similar one when Hakeem Nicks got blown up during the game too.

And Suh gets suspended for two weeks. Seems about right.

Yeah. I wouldn’t have been outraged if he had gotten 3 games but I guess that last-minute call to Goodell was worth knocking a game off. Plus, I would imagine they look at these incidents from a perspective of whether or not the other player was injured, which he wasn’t (although he could have, he still wasn’t).

And I understand that you need to have an appeals process in place but it sure would make the league look bad to have Suh playing this Sunday against the Saints, which IIRC was Flex’d to the national night game. A lot of dads explaining why the big jerk from Thanksgiving is still playing. WELL, YOU SEE, THERE’S THIS APPEALS PROCESS WHEREIN

On the other hand, it’s a teachable moment for fairness too. While Suh’s actions were ridiculous, not all suspensions are as cut and dried.

Of course. And, sadly, I want Suh in the game Sunday because I want the Saints to lose to give SF a better cushion for the #2 seed :)

I lost in fantasy last night because the guy I was playing had Manning and Cruz. 57 points between the two of them. Damn.

Team not sold, team up for sale. Could end up in LA.

No, the team has been sold.

Multiple reports say the Jaguars’ new owner will be Shahid Khan, a Pakistani-American businessman. Kahn previously made a bid to buy the St. Louis Rams. Kahn owns an Illinois-based company called Flex-N-Gate, which manufactures auto parts. The team will be kept in Jacksonville.

yup, my bad.

Actually, yes. That’s exactly what they’re going to have to do, unless they have an opportunity to make a play on the ball.

Of course, there’s a risk/reward there too. If the play is further than 15 yards downfield, the defender could still try a blowup hit on the off chance that it won’t be flagged. Even if it is, the gain will be less than it would be if he let the receiver catch the ball.

It sucks for d-backs/linebackers (and for purists), but that’s just the direction the game is moving.

Colts fire their DC. The housecleaning begins.

Despite being an obvious candidate for relocation based on fan support, the Jaguars are locked into a pretty tight long-term lease that would make a move legally difficult and ultimately very expensive. That is one of the legacy’s of Weaver’s ownership, which is ironic since even he admitted a few years ago that local support has never been what he thought it would be. But the whole thing is somewhat odd, including the decision to extend the GM three years which means the new owner is saddled with the old management group. But the coaching change raises the question of what happens with Gabbert, the one first rounder from this year that hasn’t really shown even flashes of ability. And if the Jags are back in the QB hunt, that makes the demand in this years draft for the top picks even higher. As bad as things have been in places like St. Louis, they could be in line for a very nice trade offer if a bidding war among teams desperate for Barkley and other alternatives to Luck.

Whatever in Indy. Like its the DCs fault that team has looked so bad. I’m more and more on the side of the Indy columnist who thinks the Colts should start over from scratch, from the Polians on down.

Suh is a monster that must be stopped! Man, I only wish football was that awesome.

Now that is the way I like to see the news covered!

Jake DelHomme is now a Houston Texan. That is not good if you are a Texan fan.

In one of those things that show the NFL is the ultimate “what have done for me lately league,” the Cleveland Browns are apparently releasing long time long snapper and former pro bowler Ryan Pontbriand. A fifth round draft pick, he’s quietly been one of the notoriously poor drafting Browns biggest returns (Joe Thomas is the obvious king of best draft pick though). He’s been with the team for 9 years and has been very reliable in his position, but recently made a few bad snaps that contributed to Browns losses to St. Louis and Cincinnati.

I understand that the Browns season is toast (not going playoffs, not going to draft Luck), but what are they really accomplishing with this move. Do they really think Pontbriand is finished as a dependable specialist? Is this a business move where the regular center can do long snaps so a specialist is no longer needed? Is this suppose to send a message to other players that they’re jobs are not safe if they can’t perform (a tactic I disagree with)? Unless he’s been screwing up in practice as well, I can’t imagine holding two bad plays against him when he has a much larger body of work to still recommend him.

I suppose there is a good chance another team will pick him up and take a chance.

So, a letter writer asks Peter King, should Tim Tebow be the NFL MVP?

Fuck no, it’s Peyton. Or Rodgers, if you need to choose one who’s actually played this season.

Jake Delhomme bitches! Booya! Super Bowl, here we come!
