He was interviewed by ESPN today and said he asked for his release from the Vikings because so many teams had lost their starting QB’s. Him saying that makes it sound like he thinks he should still be someones starter.

He’s right, a lot of teams have lost starters. And in Houston’s case, starter and backup. However, having watched him play the last two years I really don’t see how he helps a team on the field. So if he’s not willing to carry a clipboard, he should probably start focusing on life after football.

Seattle lost Russell Okung to a season ending pectoral injury last night. So in a season where they needed to develop the youngsters on the offensive line, the two rookies and the second year guy are all now out for the rest of the year. Of the opening day starting five, only the two veterans are left. Kind of frustrating.

The word on McNabb seems to be that he wasn’t in shape when he showed up in Minnesota and may still not be in shape. If he can’t bother with that, I guess teams won’t bother with him. His contract wasn’t that big - a one year deal in Minnesota for $5m base and up to $2m in incentives.

Now some team can pick him for the veteran minimum, if he’ll sign for that. I guess if he’s had problems learning new offenses since he left Philly then it makes no sense for a team to grab him this late in the season.

I wonder if there’s a chance the Eagles sign him? Of course they’re 4-8 so what difference would it make? They’re out of it.

I bet the Eagles are feeling pretty smug about their decisions to get rid of McNabb and Kolb and keep Vick. I can’t imagine they would want to undo that.

I dont think they feel at all well about having signed Vick, he is far more injury prone then they thought I am sure.

Holy crap that would be awesome, just imagine all the wailing and hate from the Philly fans :)

Whenever you’re saying “oh, they can do better than that,” you need to look around at who’s actually available. They had three QBs; they got rid of McNabb, and then Kolb. Those two things turned out to be excellent moves. If Vick isn’t working out as well as people dreamed, he’s still the best alternative they had, by a mile.

The Vick signing was fine. I don’t get all this talk about overspending, in football there is a real salary cap and Philly has been fantastic at managing theirs. Vick is worth the money. Nmandi isn’t, because he doesn’t fit the system. I think the Jets should have got him. Nmandi/Revis would’ve been ridiculous.

Vick isnt worth the 100 or so million they spent since he can’t seem to stay on the field.

Like most deals, Vick probably won’t see all of that 100 million. PFT has the Eagles on the hook for next year but nothing afterwards.

As for McNabb - amazed the Skins got more than a jelly donut for him - two 6th round picks was it?

Suh just has to destroy things!

A police spokesman reported that Suh, 24, lost control of a 1970 Chevrolet Coupe and crashed into a curb, light pole, drinking fountain and tree in downtown Portland.

Guess he had a flashback and thought the light pole, drinking fountain, and tree were all NFL players.

Also, is a ‘70’ Chevy Coupe a classic car? I’d expect him to have a better ride than that.

A Coupe is a type of car, not a brand, so it’s not possible to tell from that clip if he was actually driving a classic car or not.

Clearly he was pushed into the tree.

So reports out of San Diego say Norv and the GM are gone after the season. Not really a surprise.

And it looks like the 49ers new stadium in Santa Clara is just about assured as the team and city have lined up banks willing to loan the money necessary. There is also still thought to be a chance the Raiders will sign on as a second tenant.

I have to tell you, that’s a weird lookin’ stadium they have planned. Also 4000 less seats although who cares since many of the Stick’s seats weren’t actually usable for football viewing and I am certain they have more box seats.

Also SA goon’s NFL gifs are sourced in an article on SBNation. Funny gifs.

So I’m watching the Broncos/Vikings game, and I see that the Bronco defense has forced a punt and two turnovers, scoring on a pick six, while the Bronco offense has suffered an instant safety followed by a 3-and-out, and I think to myself: Man, check out that Tebow.

So Ponder has now fumbled on 3rd and goal at the 9 and thrown a pick-six in the first quarter. Hard to win when your QB looks worse than Tebow, even if it’s still hilarious fun to watch Tebow sail a screen over a 6-4 tight end.

Oh man, the Chiefs/Bears game is bad. It’s like a duel between two of the derpiest QBs in the league.

That was a heck of a TD catch by Rudolph. Right over/around the head of the interfering defender.
