And next week’s Thursday game on the NFL network looks equally compelling as the quarterbackless Texans take on the quarterbackless Colts. Too bad schedule flexing is only for Sunday games.

Yates is kind of interesting, though.
It was lost in the other news, but NFL Network is giving up the Thanksgiving night game under the new TV deal to NBC. However, we could see earlier Thursday night games as soon as next year on NFL Network.

Also, whoever bought from him in the NFL should be flipping out right about now. Plea deal, anyone?
“Giving up?” More like “happily selling” as I see it!
Funny side note, a caller on Dan Patrick’s radio show said “nobody was talking about the Colts possibly going 0-16.” Is this just what people say these days, that nobody is talking about something that everyone is actually talking about?
CNNSI.com:
But somehow, and I’m not even sure how it’s possible in an NFL that receives year-round saturation coverage, it feels as if we’ve overlooked and underplayed the 13-0 saga that has unfolded in Green Bay this season.
Wait, what? The Packers are unbeaten? WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME.

Where did you see tha accusation of him selling to other players? He certainly doesn’t seem like a guy who was making ends meet by selling baggies out of his locker.
Hurd told the agent that he was interested in buying five to 10 kilograms of cocaine and 1,000 pounds of marijuana per week to distribute in the Chicago area, the complaint said. He allegedly said he and a co-conspirator already distribute about four kilos of cocaine every week, but their supplier couldn’t keep up with his demands. A kilogram is about 2.2 pounds.
Hurd told the agent “his co-conspirator is in charge of doing the majority of the deals” while he focused on “higher-end deals,” the complaint said.
He agreed to pay $25,000 for each kilogram of cocaine and $450 a pound for the marijuana, according to the charges, and then said he could pay for a kilo of cocaine after “he gets out of practice.” He walked out of the restaurant with the package and was arrested.
I’m most schocked about how low the wholesale price of weed is.

I forgot where I saw it (either ESPN or SI) that the number of players he was selling to was in the “double digits” according to the federal agent.

In case anyone needs further proof of how much the NFL has changed in the last 20 years or so, it turns out that the 37th All Time passing yardage leader in NFL history went on IR this week with hardly a notice by anyone. Who is this legend?
Jon Kitna.
Oh, and Kerry Collins is #10 All-time, McNabb 17th, Hasselbeck 29th, and Brunnell 31st.

[LEFT]Early reports indicate that Hurd provided, or had in his possession, a list of clients. The list supposedly includes a sizable group of NFL players. Those players will likely be investigated by law enforcement and, upon threat of prosecution, encouraged to cooperate – that is, implicate Hurd and others connected to the drug ring. Whether or not they cooperate, the players could be subpoenaed to testify against Hurd.

If true, lots of nervous locker rooms this week.

It would be kind of awesome in a “theater of the bizarre” way if there were 50 players from around the league suspended for the last couple games.

Well, a) all of those guys are genuinely very good players, all of them people who’ve been to Pro Bowls and Championship games; and b) they’re all people who’ve had long careers, which is what you really need to get on those all-time lists.
I mean, yeah, the modern era is passier than it was in 1940 or whatever, but it’s not so crazy that those guys are in those positions. I mean, look at earlier eras where you see Dave Krieg at #15, Jim “Chris” Everett at #19, Jim Hart (who?) at #20 and Steve DeBerg at #21. Y.A. Tittle, Norm Snead, and Joe Ferguson also rank above Kitna.

Given how short the average NFL career is it makes sense to diversify. Tons of players have business on the side. I mean, Drew Brees owns a Jimmy Johns. You think he doesn’t sell sandwiches to all sorts of players?
I don’t think you want to call him that
I don’t think I’d call Collins a genuinely very good player. I’d call him a quarterback who played a lot of games and had a long career. He’s a mediocre passer with a few good seasons, he just played a long time. Brunell was pretty good at his peak. Matt Hasselbeck had some very good seasons in Seattle, I have nothing negative about him. Ditto McNabb, the best of that group by a wide margin.
It is a great tragedy that that didn’t become the model for all sports-bullshit shows thereafter.

A very well regarded (during his time) quarterback for the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1970s. Maybe comparable in stature to Hasselback today?

It appears Dallas paid close attention to the Falcon-Jaguars game and are trying to emulate them. Stomp on the head (figuratively) of your bad record opponent from Florida and remove all doubt that they can win. Okay, it’s only 14-0 right now, but DAYUM, the Cowboys look sharp so far.
What, they have games on Saturday now?
