No, look, all credit to the Giants defense, but mid-season Packers win this game. Rodgers’ accuracy was nowhere near where it was during their winning streak; and not because he was being pressured more now than then (the line actually held up a lot better than it did earlier in the year), just because he was throwing worse. And the receivers were dropping balls, not because the defender was in their face or whatever, but just because they were dropping them. And fumbles are always forced to some extent, but not all those were (especially on special teams).

If we could have warped the Packer offense from October into this game, even against that Giant defense, they still win.

No, I’m tired of idiots cluttering up these threads with idiotic comments. At least half the people talking football in these threads are clueless about football and I’m just sick of it.

Seriously, at the end of the year, if you were to rank all the NFL teams, you’d have put the Giants above the Packers? And we’re supposed to take you seriously?

Some awful officiating in that game. The refs really tried to hand that game to Green Bay.

All of the Pats’ wins this season were against teams that were .500 or below. Even the Broncos were 8-8 going into that playoff game.

The Pats will finally get tested from this point on.

In a ranking of teams from 1-30 based on regular season performance, obviously not. But when you consider that the Giants and Packers played a tightly contested game earlier this season, and the Giants have been saving their best football for the last couple of weeks, they had a much better shot to win this game than a lot of people gave them credit for.

edit: Also, the Giants played (I think) the toughest schedule in the league. You make it into the playoffs with that kind of adversity and you’ve got a legitimate shot to beat anyone.

Time for Giants pay back to Ravens in a superbowl.

If the Ravens somehow lose the Patriots are in a bad way going into the Superbowl. Pass rush has been their downfall for so long and that’s what both of them do so well.

So now you are calling me an idiot, because I correctly predicted the Giants would win tonight? And I was posting back and forth with you in what I thought was a humerous exchange? I thought you were an adult, not some mindless teenager on a college football forum, which is the style you are posting in right now.

I don’t know what you mean about ranking teams at the end of the season, it has no bearing on matchups in the playoffs. The Packers had a remarkable season, but they were ready to be exposed by a team that can play defense, either tonight against the Giants or next week against the Niners. They would have probably beaten the Saints again because the Saints also can’t play defense and prior to tonight the Saints were more prone to turnovers than the Packers.

Anyway, I don’t get why you decided to turn into super asshole guy, but hey, it’s the internet.

Or for NE to pay back the Giants.

That’s what I was thinking.

Come on, what about a Super Harbaugh Bowl?

Sounds nauseating from a media angle.

Given how nauseatingly the media promo’ed their match-up on Thanksgiving, I would seriously consider completely ignoring the Superbowl if this were to happen. That level of two-week intensive saccharine overload can’t be good for one’s health.

I have a hard time buying the Ravens over New England. Not only is Brady playing as good as ever, the Ravens’ defense is not as purely awesome as in years past. Although Flacco is not a terrible QB, he is no Alex Smith either, which puts too much pressure on the Raven defense for my liking.

The Giants have the resources to beat the 49ers, there can be no doubt of that, but the Giants are kind of flaky. Sometimes they bring it and look awesome, sometimes meh. If Flacco was a team instead of a player, he’d be the Giants.

I don’t see NE beating the ravens. Defense wins championships.

I love this dumb logic. For a quick example, if the Pats didn’t beat the Jets twice they would have been a winning team.

Besides…any given sunday. Who beat Green Bay in the regular season? not a winning team…other than on that day.

Except you know, Indy, St. Louis and Green Bay for a short list of bad D. teams that have won in the last 15 years.

4-0 in the other thread. That’s right.

Last year Green Bay had the second fewest points scored against them in the league. The Steelers, who they beat in the Super Bowl, had the fewest points against.

Actually the year Indy won was the year their D actually showed up. And last years Green Bay team had good defense as well. You need to have a well-rounded team to win.
