So wait do some people think that Jerry Jones is seriously a passable GM? He is the worst of all time outside of Al Davis. Jimmy Johnson was not the GM but had final say on the roster. Thats why they won in the 90s. Since then, nothing, and its because of Jones. No coach worth a shit is going to go there.
The games today surprised me. The first one, man. First off, the refs were fucking terrible. The Ravens getting that pick 6 early on looked like pretty clear PI to me. Late in the game on the Manning fumble, I dont agree with the tuck rule but that seemed like a pretty clear example of it. But aside from that, what the fuck were they thinking taking a knee at the end of the game with 31 on the clock and two time outs? As good as P Manning is in the regular season, he just is not clutch in the post season.
The second game…man the 49ers just dominated in the second half. I really wanted the benching of Smith to bite them in the ass but it looks like it was the right call. I see the 49ers beating whoever comes out of the Seattle-Atlanta game tomorrow.
Not sure what I want to see at this point, a Harbaugh Super Bowl would be cool but at the same time I still think Ray Lewis is a murderer who got off.

Ass kickin delivered. Holy smokes. I doubt Atlanta or Seattle can stop them, but most smart people didn’t think Denver would lose today either. Still…good lord, the niners looked great today.

Well now I regret the timing of my post, Olaf was getting all crazy up in here while I was typing.

A Harbaugh Super Bowl would be very cool and so so very annoying at the same time. And as great a player as Lewis is/was I can’t ever root for the Ravens because of him. So I guess I’ll be rooting for the winner of the Pats/Texans games just because it would also mean no Harbowl 2.0.
Didn’t Bill Arnsparger come out of retirement and run the San Diego defense that made the SB awhile ago?
A Harbaugh Super Bowl would be crazy hilarious, just to watch the two coaches make their pained constipated facial expressions at each other from opposing sidelines.
Think the NFL needs to rethink how they do playoff refs. I thought it was the best rated squads but its individual ratings. Then they put them together in a squad so its refs that havn’t worked together…
I thought the same thing about the refs. But is there a greater risk of bias if one would do it that way?

Waaaah. My Packers.
Kind of what I expected though. That’s the problem with the Packers of the last few years. Every three or four games, their defense is just going to absolutely choke it up big. Like big enough to almost guarantee a loss. And unfortunately, there are four games through the Super Bowl for teams that don’t get a bye.

As a Carolina fan, I was none too surprised at what happened in Denver yesterday. It’s called “Foxball”, and is closely related to Martyball / getting Norv’d. Like Norv Turner and Marty Schottenheimer, John Fox tends to the conservative and plays not to lose, rather than to win. It’s successful enough against weaker teams and can even win a game or two in the playoffs, but ultimately it leads to failure against good opposition. While we never saw anything quite as horrible as that 70-yard bomb to tie the game, it was pretty routine for the Panthers to play games closer than they should have been, then lose a lead late, especially in big games.
The Broncos benefitted from an easy schedule. The AFC West is by far the most abysmally terrible division in the league, and they racked up six easy wins against that. The rest of it isn’t too impressive, either.
Manning’s good, but they were hyping up The Broncos Are The Best Team In The League By Far-kind of talk, and that resume did not support it at all. They simply were not tested, especially in the second half of the season. And it came back to bite them in the ass.
Yup, all these are reasons are why it was ridiculous to believe the Broncos were going to end the season on a 14 game winning streak(including the SB).

The Atlanta Seattle game is starting to look like the Alabama ND game.
Well this sure is fun to watch.
Hate that fullback dive play on fourth down. I see a lot of teams run that on fourth down. I don’t get it. You give it to the up close guy which means he doesn’t have much momentum when he hits the line. Plus, he doesn’t carry the ball much during the season.

The end of the half looked downright Dallas-esque.

Pete Carroll and Darrell Bevell are morons. I’m not a conservative kind of guy, but it’s fairly early in the second quarter and the game is still pretty well in hand, so why not take the three points? Ok, so they decide to go for it on 4th down, that’s fine, but that raises further questions. If you’re going to go for it on 4th down anyway, why call a conservative play on 3rd down? Why not spread the field a little? Finally, you call a running play on 3rd and 4th down and don’t give it to your feature back either time?
Yeah I don’t understand this game at all. The Seahawks are playing like they’ve never been on field before. It’s a bummer too because yesterday’s games were exciting match ups between more or less equals. Atlanta looks so much better prepared today.
The Falcons are going to regret it if they let Wilson get it into his head that this game isn’t over. He’s on the road, which is a huge obstacle to Seattle, but he has that kind of intangible quality that can make it happen. Matt Ryan needs to lead them on a answering score of some kind, even a field goal will do it.
