When the White Sox won the WS in 05 it was outright ludicrous here in Chicago. But yeah, I think it’s pretty much any time a team wins a championship.

It chills out after a few championships. After that girl died during 2004 WS celebration, Boston is very chilled out in victory…be it another WS, the Celtics and The Bruins after a 40 year drought-we actually were stunned watching Vancouver burn in defeat. We have learned that flipping cars and lighting shit on fire actually makes the bars close earlier and interrupts the drinking and celebration.

I think some of that phenomenon comes from SF being a city with a large population that comes from somewhere else. People who moved in don’t really pay much attention to the hometown SF sports teams until they win and then everyone gets excited…they’re too busy rooting for the team from their home city.

Out here in the burbs, you’ll find mostly lifetime fans, since Bay Area people tend not to leave.

True but I think it’s worst with the resurgence of bay area team. The Giants winning 2 WS in the past 3 years. The Niners now heading to the Super Bowl and the Warriors look likely headed for the playoffs. I follow the team from afar now but all the talk from Giants/Niners fans on the blogs really annoy me.

Never been a Shannon Sharpe fan, but props to him for going off on classless Belichick.

I guess the New England fans need to update this now.

And as I say that…

For every op-ed piece that is released about “OMG these coaches r BROTHERS??” I will murder a small woodland creature.

And drop the corpses on the Harbaugh parents’ doorstep, I hope.

In Belichick’s (somewhat tepid) defense, it’s not like he ever seems excited to talk to the press after games he’s won either.

Wait. They’re brothers?

I hope ESPN covers that angle!

yep he pretty much despises the presses infatuation with the soap opera aspect of sports.

If they talked football, he would answer.

Fucking Failtriots. Every fucking season, I watch the first game in which they limp to shitty victory and I declare, “They suck. Should they even make it to the playoffs, they will be eliminated in the first round.” Then as the season goes on they get better and better, and I start thinking they might really make it. Brady might finally get his fourth fucking ring.

Then the big game finally comes, and that shitty team from the first game of the season walks onto the field.

Fuckers.

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer team (Patriots). I don’t think there is any defense of Belichick’s anti-press stance - it comes with the game. Grow up. Putting a hood over your head and skulking off the field is flat out poor sportsmanship and should be worthy of a penalty akin to excessive celebration. Though I guess being out of the Super Bowl counts. :)

I’d be surprised if it’s not part of the TV contract that coaches are obligated to talk to the network airing the game after the game is over. Belichick might get fined.

People, please focus. You have less than 2 weeks to decide if Joe Flacco is an elite quarterback.

I’d say he earned elite status, outplaying Brady in the Patriots home stadium in a huge game(championship level). Next up is earning clutch status, we’ll have to see how he does in the Super Bowl for that.

Based on this, I’d say only an Eagle can be an elite quaterback.

Only if his head is shaved.

I’m guessing fans in places like Cleveland and KC would tell you to stop with the whining and be happy your team at least has a chance.
