The only MLB game worth playing on a console since 2006 has been on Sony console hardware. I guess there are folks out there who cared about MLB 2k. That being said, if anyone has “I want an MLB game on console” as a requirement, that person has always already been a Sony consumer.
“Xbox One is the best selling* next gen console!” -Major Nelson
I just saw a news headline at IGN indicating 9.7 million PS4 games were sold, so a better than 2:1 attachment rate, sounds like.
I’ve been skeptical on streaming games as well, but I’m hopeful given how relatively nicely the ps4 to Vita streaming works.

It’s been really interesting to watch Sony set the table for their cloud initiatives over the last year. VitaTV seems like a pretty weird idea until you realize it is the perfect delivery platform for PlayStation Now and the over the top cloud-based live+on demand television service. The kind of synergies they are building with cross-buy and remote play combined with cloud gaming AND television could be incredibly powerful. The guy who rents The Last of Us through PSNow on his Bravia could be the guy who runs out to buy a PS4 when the sequel shows up. If the TV service pans out, it also gives the PlayStation ecosystems a strong leg up with the growing number of cord cutters, despite Xbox One’s emphasis on TV TV TV Sports Sports TV.
I am still skeptical about Vita TV ever coming over to the US/Europe, but I feel like all of these integration initiatives (by Sony and MS) are going to be effective at keeping Apple and Google at bay on the TV side of things. Other things like their back catalogs and already-established social networking via PSN/Xbox Live just add to that moat. (see: Google Plus vs. Facebook, Apple’s Ping, etc.)
Well, depends Kool Moe Dee. I’d not be surprised if they did a UK launch, they’d just need to do Apps for the UK services “catch up” TC iPlayer/4oD/etc. (platforms far less powerful than the Vita can handle them - like the Ouya - so…) - which they already have on the PS3/4.
I think when they bring it west the VitaTV will be rebranded somehow.
Right now it feels like a race to get the TV service off the ground. That’s the kind of thing that could have a tremendous first mover advantage. An ISP agnostic, over the top live TV service is the kind of disruptive innovation many have been predicting would come from Microsoft or Apple.

Thing is, unlike the US*, the UK already has services very like what Sony is claiming on the TV side. It sounds almost identical to BT Vision. On the one hand, that should make it easier for them to tie up agreements, but it also means they have direct, well established competition. Plus, excluding live sport, the main on-demand and live TV services are all totally free.
*So I understand. I get the impression Verizon Fios is somewhat similar, but I’m not exactly sure what it includes.
Surprised that they are launching the streaming service this summer, but still skeptical of there success in technical terms and financial terms. Also curious how they are playing those PS3 games, I guess they have enough inventory around to fill some server rooms with PS3, but it seems a technical problem and a financial burden to use them them instead of of hardware that is dedicated to cloud infrastructure but in that case are they going to use PC versions of the game and change the UI to look like the PS3 version? that seems more viable then emulating the PS3 that would require a lot more hardware then just running the PC version.
Have Sony mentioned whether they ever intend to let people download their HD movie rentals on the PS4 (like you can on 360 & PS3)? MS have said that they do intend to patch that in sooner rather than later for the One.
(I’m planning to pull the trigger on a new console in the next few months)
Wonder if that was on LAN or WAN. My guess would be local for a live demo at CES. Looks nice, but need to see it across the internet.
OnLive was putting out impressive demos 3 years ago, also people are already enjoying streaming PS4 games to Vita on there local networks. We are way pass the demo time Sony hurdles is to show tat they can scale the technology, offer it to a reasonable amount of users and make it financially viable, all things Onlive failed to do.
Looking forward to that. Hope it’s easily affordable like PS+ and offers a different selection of games.

Do console accessories go on sale outside of major events like Black Friday? I’m looking to pick up a 2nd controller but not sure if waiting is futile.

Sometimes, but rarely. More so later in the console life though when everybody already has a second controller. If you need/want one now, it probably won’t be on sale at any time soon.
Amazon has been adding PS4 stock for a shipment on the 19th in a drip feed today. If anyone is in the market check it out. If it shows out of stock just keep checking because they’ve been adding more periodically.
Some website claims that GfK found PS4 has sold 250k in Germany compared to 100k for Xbox One. As I’ve said repeatedly this seems entirely believable to me. Even though the PS4 is perennially out of stock, the piles of Xbox One just rot in the stores.
Luckily they aren’t bananas or something. Both consoles are doing pretty well. It’s the long game that matters.
