It does seem pretty crazy how Xbox Ones are piled up in stores, while PS4 restock sells out in under 20 minutes ever time at my locals, despite production capacity and delivery being much higher for the PS4. Titanfall will probably really help the XboxOne, but right now it seems to be getting killed at retail
Yeah, the PS4 has done very well at launch. It’s a cool looking machine but not for me at this moment. I’m pleased with my purchase. I honestly think the One will start to catch up as we move forward and Microsoft works out a few kinks in the television support.

The xbone will catch up if Titanfall lives up to the hype. Otherwise, it’ll be a long haul.
It may also just reflect regional differences – since none of the TV stuff is available in the markets Chris and I are in, there is really no reason to buy an Xbox One unless it’s what your Call of Duty friends have opted for or you really like the look of Ryse or Dead Rising 3. It’s a significantly worse machine for 25% more cash.
There’s more than just Titanfall coming out for the XBox One
I can see that, sure. I expect the television support didn’t help sales. Including Kinect didn’t help sales either (personally I have mine disconnected). I absolutely love the TV pass-through, etc.

Oh? What other big exclusives are due in the next 6 months or so?
The next Fable and Halo games don’t even have release dates. None of the other exclusives strike me as system-sellers.
I had no idea we were limiting the time frame to 6 months. I suppose no one will get an XBox because of current exclusives

You can extend the window as long as you like. Maybe halo and fable will make it for xmas 2014, that would provide a nice bump. It’s just a bit silly to talk about titles that don’t even have release dates. Or names, the Halo sequel doesn’t even have a name yet.
it’s silly to assume if Titanfall isn’t a huge hit it’s going to doom the console.
Just looking at attach rate charts for the consoles, both are pretty close with the XBox coming out on physical discs and Sony doing digital (I suspect PS+ subs figure in to this), but there’s something I find really odd… within the first few weeks, 2000 people in Europe bought Angry Birds Star Wars

That would be silly. Luckily I didn’t say that!
I’ll predict that if Titanfall isn’t a big hit (and I suspect it may be), the PS4 will stay ahead of XBOne sales in Europe (period).
Yeah, that’s probably not going to change in Europe irregardless of Titan Fall’s quality or sales. MS need Titan Fall to hit big just to claw back market share in the US, UK and Australia where they can’t afford to fall behind and still have a chance of rebounding.
To be clear, I include the UK in that. Otherwise yea, it’d be a no-brainer :)
Even in the UK the PS4 has such a significant sales lead to date that you can nearly lump it in with the rest of Europe again. Obviously it’s not to the scale of disparity you’re seeing in Germany or France or Spain, but the PS4 is still selling something like 66% better there. Microsoft can maybe stop the bleeding there, but they don’t appear to be in a position to reverse their fortunes enough to counterbalance sales in mainland Europe. As cool as Titan Fall looks I just don’t see it becoming a COD-style sales phenomenon in its first outing. Hell, COD wasn’t COD until COD4.

Considering large areas of Europe don’t even know when the Xbox One will even be RELEASED, I suspect the PS4 will stay ahead no matter what.

CoD came from a simpler time, when they weren’t churn out yearly. Back when every FPS were still about fighting Nazi and zombie Nazis. Even if Titanfall is a hit, I think it will be like a bit more like the original Halo or Uncharted. A good early generation game that relatively few will have played but it won’t make or break the system. There just won’t be enough of an install base for it to be a super major blockbuster. Wait it’s coming out on the 360 too isn’t it? Hmmm, maybe it can be, I don’t know now.
