I finally broke down and entered the world of next gen consoles with a PS4 that I received as a Christmas present. It was the GTA V/Last of Us Remastered bundle. Of course, the moment I tried to play, I couldn’t because of the damn network attack.
Thankfully, by Saturday night I was able to get in and grab Last of Us, as well as update my system.

I won’t link to it, but Lizard Squad just released their own DDoS tool.
Welcome to LizardStresser, brought to you by Lizard Squad. This booter is famous for taking down some of the world’s largest gaming networks such as XBOX Live, Playstation Network, Jagex, BattleNet, League of Legends and many more! With this stresser, you wield the power to launch some of the World’s largest denial of service attacks.
$5.99 monthly subscription - good for taking down a site for 100 seconds
$129.99 monthly subscription - good for taking down a site for 30,000 seconds, or over 8 hours
There are also “lifetime” options ranging from $29.99 to $500 that offer various levels of DDoS.
One of us, one of us, one of us!
Gratz, hepcat!

lilhepcat on PSN if anyone wants to heckle an uncoordinated gamer at any time.
I’m debating picking up Fifa 15 while it’s on sale. Anyone have a yay or nay on that one?
It’s good, but apparently PES is very good this year, so you might want to look at that instead, depending on what sort of football game you like.
I think they both have demos. So you might want to check out the demos first.
Browsing demos on PlayStation store appeared broken when I tried it on my shiny new PS4 last night. Gives me a big list of games that in theory have demos, but clicking through takes you to the purchase page for some reason.
My 100% digital plans did bite me on the ass with the PSN attack preventing me from downloading any games to play until last Saturday night. But I’ve been having a lot of fun with Transistor, InFamous, Trials Fusion and Diablo III. Diablo works so well on a controller it makes me angry I ever tried to play any of those games hunched over a keyboard and mouse like an animal. And it makes me wish Torchlight 1 and 2 had controller support.
My nephew is visiting with his parents for the holiday and he sleeps in in a room next to mine so the headphone jack on the controller has been extremely convenient for playing game and watching blu-rays at night without disturbing him.
And between PS Plus, Cross-Buy, giveaways like PT and Garden Warfare and the few games I was gifted along with the PS4 I already have 41 games to play. So I’m having a pretty good time with it right now.

I went ahead and picked up Fifa 15. I’m not a hardcore sports gamer so I probably won’t really notice the differences between the two, plus it was on sale and I love all the eye candy it gives you as well as all the club licensing.
So far I’ve picked up (or had been given/received as part of a bundle/downloaded as part of my psn plus membership) Injustice, GTA V, Last of Us Remastered, Infamous Second Son, Fifa 15, Ponchos, Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes, and DC Online.
Infamous I wasn’t getting into initially because the physics in it are so weird for me. I like ragdoll physics, but they don’t use that. Thus everything feels “floaty”. But after a few battles, I started getting the hang of it.
GTA V is just filled to the brim with stuff. 2 hours in and I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface.
Tomorrow I’m planning on getting in some serious game time. But later today and through the night is a New Year’s Eve boardgame get together. Strictly analogue, baby!

After all the damage done by the DDoS mafia, here comes the damage that Sony is going to inflict on himself to “repair” the problem.
Yesterday had a rought time connecting, had to enter 1472 as the mtu to the connection to be able to connect.
Whats the default MTU on the PS4? Surely this can be auto negotiated? Does the PS4 Support IPv6 btw?
You should not need to monkey with your MTU settings at all. Differing behavior would indicate a problem with switching hardware between you and Sony.
Playstation Now subscription prices announced. $20 a month or $45 for 3 months. To much for me considering the performance/latency issues I’ve gotten in the past trying the service out, and how often I’d probably use it. Would need to be at a Netflix level to interest me.

It’d need to do all of the below for me to bite, so never.
- Quality identical to a local game (netflix is essentially identical to playing a local copy of the film)
- Library size of Netflix is huge. This needs to be as well, especially if more expensive. Give me as much of the ps1, psp, vita, ps2, and ps3 as possible. Like at least half the library of each, say the top rated half.
- cost needs to be dramatically lower with the current selection
I know movies are not games, however, for streaming, movies are a better product IMO, input lag does not affect them.
I think all the above is impossible and just will never happen, so I’m super uninterested.

I’d love to go this route, but only if it included a comprehensive gaming library that also covered new releases. I would think Sony would love this as it effectively eliminates the problem they have with gamestop and other resellers who specialize in used games.
I’ve not tried it out yet, so I don’t have a clue as to how it performs. But if folks are experiencing a bunch of lag, that’s an even bigger road block.

I can’t help but wonder if perhaps they wouldn’t be better served by keeping the subscription service pricing, but allowing you to download a certain number of those games locally. You could still manage the digital rights and set it up like a music subscription service. The games would auto delete after you end your subscription. Also, they could limit the number of games you have locally downloaded. That would effectively get around the lag issue, I would think.
Here’s more info:

Want to try before you buy? Well, good news! We’ll also offer a free seven-day trial to the subscription program when it launches.
That’s a good price to me. I’ll probably bite for a month in the future if I ever have enough free time.
There were a lot of PS3 games I’ve been interested in trying, but not interested enough to buy them for 10$+ each.

You do realise you’re describing Playstation Plus, right? I suppose there’s the emulation of older systems on top, but I guess that’s why they can’t/won’t do local downloads, because the PS4 is not backwards compatible.

Playstation Plus allows you to play any of the games from the Playstation Now library?
As far as I know, they select 3 games a month for Playstation Plus members. That’s it. But the plan I was musing about, you would have access to the entire Playstation Now library, but keep perhaps 2 or 3 downloaded locally at a time. That way the lag issue wouldn’t be a hurdle for those who would like a subscription service.
