Is it crazy to try to do simple multiplayer like BloodBorne with a semi-decent wifi connection?
Do people explicitly close applications and put their console into rest mode every time they’re done playing? This is freaking me out too.
Don’t know about the wifi. As for closing the apps, I don’t do that, and I don’t think you should worry about it.
I did not enable the option for my PS4 to install system updates while in rest mode. It will still download them, but it won’t install them, so it won’t ever close the app for me without me explicitly allowing it to. So that’s one option. I also still try to save my game before I put the PS4 in rest, so worst case scenario (power goes out or something) I’m still not losing anything other than the time it will take to start it back up.
So really I see no reason to explicitly close an app until it is time to install a new system update, or unless a game you’re playing has an issue with rest mode. GTA V for example does some weird things if you put the PS4 to sleep while you’re playing online—nothing game breaking, but it won’t let you back into public free mode if you put it to sleep in free mode. An odd glitch, but I’m just working on single player and there’s no downside to resting in that mode. As long as GTA V takes to load from scratch, it’s fantastic to have it “always” running when I turn my PS4 on.

Wifi seems fine for me for multiplayer, but I’m not playing a ton of anything competitive. My router isnt even all that great.
I never close apps, the system will tell you if it feels like it needs to close something (starting a game when another game is running)

Just bought the Ps4 last week due to the on sale TLOU bundle. I am an Xbox 360 / Xbox 1 gamer.
I don’t get what all the fuss is about regarding TLOU. I think that Telltale zombie walking dead game was better done from a story perspective.
Why did TLOU receive so many awards? It was a duck and hide game… repetitive gameplay. Not much of a story.
Is the DLC worth playing or more of the same?

If you didn’t care for the story then the DLC definitely isn’t going to do anything for you.

While I agree that the gameplay was basically repetitive, I think the game did an excellent job of making me feel like I was trying to survive in a post apocalyptic zombie infested world. I got really attached to the characters (not as much as Lee and Clementine, but still a lot). It’s probably just one of those things, you either get into the story, characters and the world they created or you don’t. I still enjoyed the game play too and appreciate it even more in TLOU now that I’ve also played Uncharted 1 and 2.

Yeah, TVs dealing with overscan is super annoying. Just bought a brand new Samsung LED TV, and what it does is that all the games images are a bit larger than the size of the screen. It is annoying and unnecessary. By renaming the input name to PC, the screen works like a computer monitor and makes it a 1:1 fit. For some reason it is not an option through basic settings, and for the love of god I can’t understand why.
I’m basically now assuming that there’s a huge amount of people out there playing games without seeing 10% of the game screen. I bet many of you have it as well. Turn overscan off if you see it in the settings, and if not, see if you can choose the input type (PC, DVR etc.), or if you can rename it (try ‘PC’).

Just picked up a PS4 despite the pathetic selection of games that look interesting but aren’t better played on a PC anyway. What got me: The Bloodborne release coinciding with some aggressive console pricing in Switzerland. A PS4 used to go for over 500 USD here a year ago. Now it’s about 300 USD at multiple retailers. Guess that’s the right formula for a console: the right price and a must-have exclusive game.

I also tried TLOU and didnt like it at all. I just bought my 2nd PS4 for Bloodbourne and The Witcher 3. Sure these two will last me the rest of this year at my 2-4 hour a week gaming pace.
I thought I would sell mine after playing Bloodborne. I’ve decided to keep it around for Bloodborne DLC (which I assume won’t take as long as Artorias for Dark Souls) and early access to Salt & Sanctuary.
I still need one more landmark exclusive this generation to keep me as a satisfied customer.
That’s a timed exclusive, and I’m in no rush to dive into another indie Endless Development space game.
Looking forward to E3.

By the way, for those of you that have finished The Last of Us (or aren’t going to but still appreciate the greatness of Troy Baker’s voice acting), this spontaneous take on the end scene is pretty amazing:

Destiny…you know you want to try it…

I really wish I could have gotten more into Destiny. I think I wanted it to be more a much better Hellgate: London than whatever it is though.
Don’t do it. It is a trap!
Do your sanity a favor and buy shadow warrior or wolfenstein instead if you want a fps.
Destiny is probably the most disappointing game of the generation. A complete bait and switch.
That needs to be a quote on the GOTY edition! :p
A. Maybe I’m mixing up people, but I think Tim is a PC gamer and was looking for a console exclusive to justify his PS4. So I don’t think he’s going to want to play Shadow Warrior or Wolfenstein on his PS4.
B. I think we’re past the point where you can call Destiny a bait and switch. If Tim wasn’t interested in it back before it was released, he’s got no misguided expectations. And I’ve certainly played enough that when I recommend it, it’s because even with its shortcomings, I love the game we have today, no matter what I thought it would be.
Thanks guys, but no console shooters for me. I’m hoping for one more all-time classic brawler or RPG exclusive to the PS4. Something like that.
