So far the game selection is anemic. I was hoping for a PS4 version of Last of Us.

Ah, right… classic Defender where the humans were suspended in boxes and green enemies would show up elsewhere on the board and if you didn’t shoot them a human in a box would die.
How could I forget!

I’m a tech geek and as such I have this weird desire to own a PS4, despite the fact that every other console I’ve owned in the past (Xbox, Xbox360) got about an hour of playtime before collecting enormous amounts of dust. Must resist the pull of a new gadget.
True, but I think Shadowfall is worth it if only because it’s a launch title; let’s you see next gen graphics and features now (as opposed to Call of Duty, which is basically a higher-rez version of last gent).

The Best Buy in my town had a stack of about 50+ PS4s behin the service counter.
No doubt I will get a PS4 eventually, where eventually means next Christmas when there are a new crop of titles that actually interest me. Or… 1080p 60fps Skyrim. That would also get me to buy one ;).

The lack of games is why I’m not buying at launch, combined with the hope we’ll see enough PC ports that I won’t need to buy a console with a yearly online subscription fee.
The PS4 is what I would get though, barring some miracle development.

So I got my PS4 and it hasn’t died or anything so that’s good. Maybe it’s because I’m used to playing PC games on a CRT, but I’m noticing a lot of aliasing/shimmering on the PS4. On the grass/crowd in madden, on a lot of objects on BF4(especially noticable on the water) and on UI elements like the keypad. Is there anything with my console hardware that could cause that or is that normal and I’m just overly sensitive/paranoid

Can anyone with a PS4 Controller comment on how it works when plugged into a PC? Can it even be plugged into a PC?
I searched through this thread, but couldn’t find any discussion on this. I may be blind.
Thanks for any info!
*** EDIT! ***
So this thing is Bluetooth and it works with Windows! Yay! There are no crazy Xbox Wireless Adapters to buy! It pairs just like any other Bluetooth device and Windows 7 already has HID drivers for the thing. However, the rumor is that you need to use the x360 emulator thing to get it to work with some games.
All this said, can anyone provide a first-hand-account of their experience with pairing the controller and playing some PC games?
Some guy on Youtube has thrown up a hands-on explanation of how to connect this controller to a Win7 PC. It’s pretty thorough, going over install via microUSB and Bluetooth and into using x360emu with Batman Arkham Origins.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVicCdPm6CI
It pairs up fine over bluetooth. The only problem I’ve found is there is no way to power off the controller other than unpairing it. So I just use it as a wired USB controller.
I have been using as my main PC controller for the past few weeks, playing several hours of Spelunky, Super Meat Boy, and Batman. Having to drop x360emu into every game folder that only supports a 360 controller is annoying, but not the end of the world. For stuff like emulators or games that support controllers other than just the 360 pad, it is just plug and play. It has pretty much replaced the me hooking up my snes pad for anything that required dpad controls.
Overall, I would put the PS4 controller up there with the SNES and saturn pads as my favorite controller. The dpad is good, the analogue sticks and triggers are on par with the 360 controller.
Just chiming in to add my PSN name. BaggerMc and I’m happy to add any QT3 folks.

I noticed tons of glimmering on trees in Assassins Creed… It was driving me crazy.
I didn’t realize that the HDMI input on my TV had different settings- it had sharpness at 70 and some auto-edge thing enabled. Putting sharpness down to 40 and turning off the auto edge removed all shimmering. So check your tv settings for similar things.

Just some thoughts:
Though here is a helpful tip for those playing multiplayer cod (might apply to bf4, don’t know, haven’t tried that mp yet).
So apparently there is no way to mute the mic on the camera. So that means in cod matches everybody gets to hear anything said in the entire room. One work around is to create a party with only you in it. Make sure it’s on party chat vs game chat and volume is set to normal (instead of party priority). That way you are only talking to yourself.

Can anyone here with a PS4 answer my question on being able to play video or music from a USB flash stick, the way we can on the PS3?

And credits roll on Knack. First platformer I have beaten since the original Mario 64. Loved it, great audio video showcase and just the right length for me. Credit music is one of my faves too. How ya like me now by The Heavy.

Regarding sharing, via a friend on another forum:
Played with a friend’s (who received his, damnit) We received an email with these, tested all… all work. Some are very slick:
Push and hold the Share button to take a screenshot.
To change the long press of the Share button to bring up the Share menu and the short press of the Share button to take a screenshot, press the Share button to bring the [Share Menu]. Then press the Options button and go to [Share Settings]. Select [Share Button Control Type] and choose [Easy Screenshots].
From the [Share Settings] described above, you can also change recording and streaming settings.
A double tap of the share button will start a fresh video recording from that point, regardless of what Share button control type you have set.
Push and hold the PS button down to bring a quick menu with volume and other settings (such as device management). Through this you can adjust what audio is sent to the headset jack on the controller, including all audio or just voice chat. FYI: This is probably the best part of the whole thing. Just plug in ANY headset into the PS4 controller. ANY headset works. We used a set of Apple Earbuds we had from our iPads… worked flawlessly.
The PS Home button can be double-tapped to quickly swap between the last game and app in use.
Click R3 when using the onscreen keyboard for gyro control.
You can either press L2 or say “PlayStation” on the dashboard to activate a voice command (using either a mic or the camera). For example: Press L2 and then say “Battlefield 4” to go to Battlefield 4 and then “Start” to start the game or say “PlayStation Battlefield 4” to go to Battlefield 4 and then “Start” to start the game.
You can use the PlayStation App as an alternate keyboard as well as a secondary device to quickly navigate the PS4 dashboard and menus. For more info, check out this guide.
As long as an account with PS+ has a particular system active as it’s primary system, all accounts on that system (16 is the maximum per system) will be able to play online, regardless of whether the PS+ account is signed in or not. To set a PS4 system as the primary system for an account, go to [Settings] > [PSN] > [Activate as Your Primary PS4]. Note: This can also be used to deactivate the system as your primary.
The DualShock 4’s light pulsates when charging. It pulses slower the closer to fully charged it becomes.
To view the actual amount left on a download and not just the amount remaining before you can start the application, go to [Notifications] > [Downloads] or [Settings] > [System Storage Management] > [Applications] and choose which app or game you want to see.

You can’t. It doesn’t support any audio/video playback other than from apps like Netflix & Music Unlimited or Blu ray / DVDs.

Well, that just sucks. Why in the world remove such simple but useful functionality?
I assume this means I can’t do things like add my own background music in games like MLB:The Show (which specifically supports adding your own background music.)
Sounds like an oversight that they intend to fix in a future update, but nothing concrete yet as to when.
We had a thread with IDs at one point, but I’m Tommy_Tutone and deeply in love with NFS Rivals if you want someone to compare times with.
