Here’s the most interesting thing to happen to the Playstation 4 since Sony wiped the floor with Microsoft at E3. Wondering why the PS4 failure rate is at 0.4%? Have a look at this unverified claim of…sabotage:

http://corruptedcartridge.com/ps4-sabotaged-news/

According to a snapshot of a deleted forum post, the interns at a Foxconn manufacturing plant in Yantai, China have sabotaged the PS4.

I linked to an article covering this supposed forum post because the original source is written in Chinese, as you’ll see in the screenshot of the(a?) post.

Seems legit.

I would hazard that it’s either due to licensing cost (MP3, MPEG-2, MP4) compared to the number of people who actually used the feature, or “not high enough on the priority list of stuff we have to have done before we ship.”

Finally, someone with good taste in 3D platform gaming!

How is Knack getting 3s and 4s in reviews? Holy fuck the media around the gaming industry is fucking retarded.

That is the sentiment that I am having regarding the Killzone reviews. Not the scores per se, but the words that go with the scores.

Since you can use the PlayStation App to enter text on the on the PS4, you can use LastPass to fill in passwords. That’s handy.

I’m presbyopic on PSN and looking for more NFS Rivals =)

You can? Over WiFi? That’s fantastic.

I don’t know what it is about it, but honestly the setups for each encounter feel incredibly cheap.

I normally play most games on the hardest difficulty, and died a shitload. I think the dodge being on the right stick is awkward, but even on normal each new fight space is really stacked against you especially if you are not at full health.

It’s really got a nice charming art style, but I can’t yet figure out how the hell it’s murdering me so much. The repetition really drags it down being it’s basically one long corridor.

I’ve been playing through Knack on hard and not feeling that it is repetitive though I do die a lot.

I find that the way the sun crystals are distributed is a very clever way of allowing you to power through any section that is giving you that much trouble.

So, I was going to sell my PS4 preorder, but decided to keep it instead. Got Killzone and AC4. Have to say, I love the PS Vita operability with this. I haven’t had a chance to load up Killzone, but played Resogun on the PS Vita, and played a couple of hours last night of AC4. I am happy so far with the system, but have to admit to looking forward to the Xbox One because of the rest of the media operability. However, I love the new controller. I am a giant (6’8") and this controller doesn’t make my hands cramp after extended usage.

If I can convince the wife that keeping both the PS4 and the XB1 is a valid option, I was thinking of getting NFS: Rivals for the PS4. The Eurogamer review is giving me pause though. Very positive review, and I love the part where they describe giving the cops the slip and then discover that part of the cops posse trying to bring him down was a real player.

My question is: how will that part work for non PS+ members? Does the game handle the lack of multiplayer gracefully even though it’s completely integrated into the main single player gameplay? It might be better to get this game on XB1 as well since I’ll have to have Xbox live for multiplayer with my friends.

I am thinking of making the XB1 my main driving console. I like only using one where possible, that way if I buy a wheel accessory then I have the games on the same system. Also, I assume NFS will use the new rumble triggers in the XB1 controller to give a bit more haptic feedback that isn’t available on the PS4?

Given that the Eurogamer review says you can’t even pause the game because of the integrated multiplayer set-up, it’s probably not very graceful. There was some discussion of this general topic on the Player One Podcast and it didn’t sound graceful at all if you weren’t on board with their multiplayer vision. But presumably it doesn’t just stop working entirely if your internet goes down or if you don’t have PS+/Gold.

All that said, why don’t you get PS+? It pays for itself in ways Gold never does.

Thats good.

I suppose being this OpenGL maybe could be possible to save the current OpenGL state to a vectorial fileformat, so later the same OpenGL state can be restored,to have a 3D screenshots that you can navigate and walk around. Ooops… this is how people make screenshots in 2025, is not supposed to be invented in 2013 yet. Sorry, misregard that, look at the light uses memory delete device.

Next thing console gamers need is some editing tool, to make “x360noscope wub wub” videos. I know consoles are supposed to be “consumer only” devices, but maybe people swing that way.

That’s what I was afraid of.

Why not PS+? Like I said upthread, it makes great sense for anyone who owns a Vita or a working PS3, but I don’t have either. My PS3 broke down for the second time last year and its not worth another $100-$150 to fix the yellow light of death a second time with the next generation being here. So without those the value proposition of PS+ is dubious right now. If it eventually becomes as good a deal as it is for PS3 owners then I’ll probably pick it up at that point.

IMO, Resogun and Contrast almost get you to $50 worth of value out of PS+ just by themselves.

If you are an extreme pessimist and think nothing else of value will come out in the next year you can get PS+ for $18 for 3 months, so that would give you 4 months (along with the free 30 days you get with the PS4) of Resogun and Contrast and multiplayer NFS to reevaluate, but the idea that there are people with a PS4 without PS+ seems mildly silly to me, honestly!

I’m a little confused by this. Contrast seems to be getting decent but not great reviews, and it is also on Steam, so I’m sure it will be in the Christmas steam sale so let’s leave that aside for a minute. If Resogun is as good as, let’s say Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved (which I’m really hoping it is), then wouldn’t it be a better value to buy it for $15 instead of getting it through PS+ and having it only for a limited time? 4 months, 13 months, whatever it happens to be. Instead of renting it (effectively) though PS+, wouldn’t I be better off just buying it? At least with Geometry Wars, I played that game (and it’s sequel) for years after they came out.

(Confession: I had extended bouts of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved this summer, in 2013, trying to get the last two achievements. I can get so close!)

It’s just so offputting to see someone non-ironically referencing reviews. LOL. But, yeah, that’s a thing you could do. Not get PS+ and just buy Resogun. Obviously someone might see value in PS+ beyond merely Resogun, though, in which case it’s a nice bonus. If that doesn’t apply to you then $15 for the game could work? It depends on what’s going on with you, i guess.

Why is that? I’m referring to the text in reviews, not the scores. The scores are largely meaningless, but I like reading how people felt about a particular game. With gaming time so limited, there is a desire to only play the best games and stay away from mediocre games certainly, but as gaming time gets even more limited, I also have a desire to stay away from good games too. Well written reviews seem to be the best way to ascertain this, right?

Probably a topic more suitable for a different thread though.

Well you don’t really get PSN plus for one or two games. It’s for all the games you get and yes you will have to continually subscribe but for most people it is something they will do anyways just so they can play online. You said you played Geometry Wars this summer, but you have also been subscribed to Xbox Live for all those years too haven’t you, and the same would apply to PSN plus, you probably still be subscribe to it eight years from now if you’re really into the games and the system. Otherwise if you’re not going to subscribe to it at all or play online it would be better just to buy it outright.

And this is also kind of a minor problem/annoyance I have with PSN plus. If I am subscribed to it and I get a game as one of the free titles I can no longer outright just buy the game. A few times a title they have given away was put on sale for cheap and I felt I would like to rather own the title outright but couldn’t buy it since I already owned it through PSN plus. And now since my plus has expired I no longer have access to the game or could get it for cheap like I would’ve been able to.
