The Political Machine 2020

The Political Machine 2020 was announced today! The game’s been overhauled with new graphics and a more sophisticated simulation system. The biggest thing to change is the addition of ideology trees, which are unique to each candidate. Sanders’ issues that you can spend points in will be different from Trump’s, etc.

Here are some screenshots, including one of the ideology tree.

The game is coming soon; here’s the link to the Steam page if you wanted to read more.

I wonder how the game will handle coordinated foreign interference with the election and collusion and the like.

How about social media BS fake news?

Or voter purges.
Or closing polling places on tribal lands.
Or…

Wait, I play games to escape!

This is too close to what I get paid for (fighting all that anti-democracy stuff.)

This genre of games baffles me. If I wanted to “what if” US politics I could just head to the right bar and drink into oblivion. (I don’t.)

The Political Machine 2020 is now out!

We had a stream earlier today showing off a couple of playthroughs and have a roadmap with features to come through until the big day itself.

The Political Machine received an update last week that added some more candidates and put back options back in that people said they’d been missing! You can adjust your campaign length now, as well as modify your starting funds and change the frequency of random events. The full update details are here.

Another update for The Political Machine today! Now you can play as Kamala Harris and Dan Crenshaw, as well as a new proponent of the “Lunacy” ideology, Valentino Rutabach.

An “Issue Editor” (I included a pic below) has also been added, which lets you go through various political issues and choose your stance on them when you create a custom candidate. Full details of the update can be found on Steam here.

The Political Machine 2020 released v1.1 today, adding Steam Workshop support, some balance updates, and a few new candidates. You can find more info here!

v1.2 is here, now with John McCain and Barack Obama! They’ve both got their own ideology trees - “Straight Talk Express” and “Hope and Change,” respectively, plus the team has addressed some community feedback by improving the news ticker and implementing autosaves. Check out the details on Stardock’s forums.

Are there only two parties in this game?

Yes, officially there are 2 parties - Democratic and Republican! However, the new ideology system that gives every candidate their own ideological platform to run on makes them all operate very similarly to their real-life counterparts. The system gives you the flexibility to basically run as a Libertarian, Socialist, Green Part, etc within the the two party dynamic.

Can Barack run for a 3rd term? :)

Hope everyone’s doing well! I just wanted to pop over here and post this preview for v1.3 of The Political Machine 2020 that will be releasing soon. We’ve got two new candidates – Bill Clinton and Sarah Palin - and lots of new features and improvements. https://forums.politicalmachine.com/500887

Alaska suddenly looks like a Russian province.

This scares me!

v1.3 released today, and so did a new Founding Fathers DLC! The DLC adds candidates back from the founding of America: Alexander Hamilton, John Adams, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison. It also includes new ideology trees and customization pieces for making your own candidates. You can learn more about the DLC here.

You can read all about the changes here. Happy campaigning!
