We had a very similar situation recently where Dave (batting lead-off, ironically) was in position to give someone a card that would establish trust…which that person then used to validate Dave. They both immediately came under suspicion for EVIL collusion. You can “increase suspicion” on me for describing it if you like but it doesn’t change the fact that we have recent precedent of it happening. (Hell, rowe33 led the charge…and he was basically railing against Merlin!)

I will also stand by the assertion that such a powerful card is wasted having to be played with absolutely zero intel to work off of other than one player’s actions. We have zero votes. We barely, kindasorta have a proposed team. We certainly don’t have Quest results, positive or negative.

And I’ll stand by the fact that it makes no sense not to play it in the only manner that gives him reliable information (i.e., letting someone verify his ID and confirming that they told the truth.) Damage is done though.

And I will continue to accuse all Merlins of being Evil as it is my forte!

I followed the thread, so I know what you’re talking about. I agree the card would be more useful later but that’s a distraction since we have to use it now, not later. You’re basically arguing that the suspicion engendered by using the card to verify one’s own loyalty is equal to that engendered by declining to use it to verify one’s own loyalty. That seems like nonsense to me, and it should to you. I know you’re a smart guy, so I doubt you really believe nonsense. Thus suspicion.

That aside, I agree we should try to verify a team member now.
