Here’s the main logic in my mind:
rob could have used a card to reveal his own loyalty to one of two different knights, as suggested by several of us. This would have given him some knowledge of the chosen knight if they would have confirmed his loyalty as Good. Also would have given the rest of us some trust in the leader that also handed out another powerful card and a medium strength one without even waiting to see what the results of the first card were. That last part is key - why is he handing them out at the same time unless he has some special knowledge? If he must give it to kl3m for some reason, why not wait to see what the results are? Unless it doesn’t matter because you knew something already. That pretty much nails it for me. He’s got to be Evil and didn’t want jostly or ankamela to know his loyalty. He gave that card to you and since I’m assuming rob’s Evil based on the above, that kind of throws a lot of suspicion your way, right? Then you choose to use it on clyve, saying he’s Good, but we don’t really know either way.
Then both you and rob vote YES on this party which just about everyone dislikes except YES-Dave and VYFI-Christien. You also were pretty adamant about switching things up to try and cover rob’s possible card distribution to you.
I think Good at this point really needs to focus on proving clyve’s loyalty as there’s a loyalty caravan that’s been created - if clyve is Evil, then kl3m is obviously Evil. If clyve is Good, kl3m could still be Evil but it gives him a little more credence than he has now.

Thanks, rowe33. You always do a good job of helping others understand where you’re coming from. Even if I don’t agree, I get it.
The part you bolded…that’s the second time you mentioned it. For my part I did not know rob had a choice about how he named the card recipients. Is it possible that you are assuming a mechanic incorrectly? That seems to be a key aspect of the behavior and it may just be a misunderstanding.
If I had the cards I would have assumed I needed to name the distribution all at once. Otherwise it might take a whole day just to hand them all out, singly, and wait for group discussion about each individual decision…letting that discussion impact the next single card distro?

fire was pretty clear in her post, plus I just did it in the last game. I handed out the first card, waited to hear the result, then proceeded with the others.
fire:
robthomasson, you are our first Quest Leader. Please help our cause by first distributing the following Plot Cards one at a time, in any order, pausing to learn about each card’s effect.

This second part is where I have a real issue:
Why do Dave and x-tien get a pass? You mean to tell me if I had just posted ahead of the vote that “I always like to vote YES on the first team because it just feels so good!” then you wouldn’t be concerned about me?
A 60/40 split does not mean “just about everyone”. Convenient for Dave to try to retro-fit his vote to the hive mind after the fact. Or for x-tien to make a waffling statement ahead.
I saw clyve’s card. He’s GOOD. For me that’s a 33% certainty on Team 1. I don’t think I will get better odds than that. I might get equal but I won’t get better without getting on the team myself. So I voted YES under what I thought was the best circumstance available. And I’ll stand by that logic.

Thanks, again, rowe33. I didn’t pay close attention to the direction given by fire. That post was all about the import of the cards themselves to me.

No, no free pass for them at all - but seriously, how does anyone even interpret what Dave does? He was Merlin a couple games ago and I thought he was 100% Evil the whole game. Dave could be Evil, could be Good, I honestly have no clue. He isn’t just saying YES this game, unless you’re assuming he’s been building up a YES personality in the past for the sole purpose of hiding his Evil nature in this particular game.
Christien is definitely under suspicion as well, especially because he got a really nice card to use. I agree with scott on keeping all 4 off the next team, just to be safe for now.

If you’re Good, you’ve got to see how fishy it looks to ask for help, then just throw the cards out there all at the same time, ignoring the advice a few of us gave.
Or how fishy it looks to devote so much effort to giving Rob cover…

Yesterday this game felt so terribly full of paranoia that it was going to be horrible to get to the end. Today, it feels like a completely different game.

I won’t try to argue that it was an unusual play. But I would caution against settling into a notion that might be hard to divorce yourself from (later) on the basis of an unusual action.
As for the mechanics, it’s hard to tell for n00bs. As example I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to do after fire gave me the details on clyve. Then, after I posted, Dave made a cryptic post about why I would even post the confirmation statement?
When did we get so obsessed with fish?
Yeah, that’s probably true. We should probably keep clyve off as well, since klem confirmed him as good.

Nope, I was wrong. This feels like yesterday again.

Keep clyve off what? The furniture?
If you mean teams, I don’t necessarily see it. Would’ve been strange for an evil to have changed from the initial team proposal only to include another evil on the team. (And if rob isn’t evil, then the whole train of thought falls through anyway)

jostly delivers again…
Based on everyone’s thoughts above, I think we should go with three of this group and see how the voting goes but it’s ultimately up to Annie:
Annie

Since we only need three to start, I think it’s safe to keep clyve off and hope we get cards to confirm loyalty next quest. That would either clear or incriminate kl3m and possibly help clear or incriminate rob too. Win/win really if we can determine if clyve’s Good.

Good reasoning, rowe. I’d definitely vote for a team made up of any of those until I see proof of their falsehood (card or failure vote)

Rowe, If robthomasson, kl3m and just one of x-tien and Dave are evil, then one of those that you are suggesting is guilty too. If both x-tien and Dave are innocent, than 2 people out of that group of 5 are guilty.
That feels like a terrible idea.

Of course 2 out of the other group of 5 would be guilty as well so it seems as good an idea as any. If someone has a better one, I’m open to it! It’s up to Annie in the end though.
