As a loyal servant of Arthur, this is both suspicious sounding and statistically not probable.

Quest 2 Results
Like a large balloon filled with the heat of a fire beneath it, your hope for a successful quest soared far into the sky; stretched, reached into the vastness of space, billowed and swelled, expanding from the reduced atmosphere; and, just before vanishing from sight, exploded into a thousand haphazard pieces, littering the ground with vile uselessness.
And, like a pupil retrieving for the first time a marked exam, you hoped for the best, confident in your abilities to study and perform under pressure; but having received the poor grade you rightfully deserved, you prepared for your dutiful return home to your parents, who would wait, displeased, for the results.
On the back of a wagon hauling bales of hay you rode in silence, rode in astonished silence, embarrassed and dreading what would await you back at Camelot. Arthur would be furious. The others would chastise you. All fingers would point. You worked through the permutations in your mind, and by the time you arrived at the castle, each scenario had unfolded within you to completion. You would feel none of the brunt of your colleagues’ rage. The embarrassment had passed en route, and you were ready to move on. You were ready to prove yourself – or to let someone else have a shot.
Quest the Second has failed.

clyve holds Keeping a Close Eye on You.
One-time use – The player to whom the Leader passes this card may use this card to examine a played Mission card. Using this card does not require a player to announce its use before the Mission cards are played, nor does it affect the Mission card played. Multiple Mission cards may be checked in a single round, but no more than one player may check a single player’s Mission card on a round.
Would you like to use your card, and if so, on which Quest team member?

We expected a fail.
The last team was successful but I wasn’t sure they could be trusted. This time we add robthomasson and the mission failed. He offered to have the eye on him, but maybe that was intended to build a small amount of trust so I’d use it on someone else…
One major concern is the plot cards. Rob has them next and we need to be able to trust that they will be used well.
I’d like to look at robthomasson’s vote please

I’d say use it on me but that didn’t work out too well last game.
Sorry fellow knights, that was just about worth the quest failing so we could get the excellent sorry. We definitely need to play the Eye card now, but on whom?

I don’t think using it on you would have yielded the same results. scottagibson has already vouched for you.

I think knowing rob is safe is good for us moving forward. If he’s evil, Scott can snag leadership.
Actually, we could find ourselves in the same situation Lantz put us in last games if Scott is the evil one. He’s got a mitt full of cards to worry about…

I wish I could say that I was surprised from this outcome, but that would be a lie.

scottagibson holds Strong Leader.
Would you like to assume leadership at this time? If not, team leadership passes nominally to robthomasson.

Party foul. I posted the answer to clyve’s Keeping a Close Eye card in-thread rather than by PM. I immediately changed it (see above), but let’s assess the damage. Please PM me if you saw rob’s vote – either by F5ing the thread or by e-mail notification – and we’ll figure out how to proceed.

Dramatic! I didn’t see it. Do I get a PM for what it was then?

All right, guys. I’ve consulted some authorities on the matter, and it’s pretty clear that my party foul cost the game. At least 3 players saw my post, and unfortunately, that puts one team at a pretty strong disadvantage. If we were playing tabletop, and we’d accidentally flipped up a card intended as a private viewing, we would immediately shuffle and restart.
So, I’m going to have to pull the plug on this game. I’m really sorry about that. In running The Resistance for 10 games, this is the first time we’ve had to restart.
Luckily, we were only two voting cycles into this game. The game was off to an incredibly interesting start – one worth discussing! I will post characters below.

Wait, which side does it put at a disadvantage? Why not just play it out for funsies?

That almost certainly means one of, if not both, clyve and rob were evil. If both were good it would be nearly inconsequential.

Here’s what’s cool.
Quest the Firste: Oberon draws a card that forces him to reveal himself to someone else. On one hand, that’s terrible. He has no idea who his fellow Evil players are. On the other hand, that’s awesome. He’s no longer alone. By pure luck, he reveals to the Assassin. Then Oberon and the Assassin take Percival on a magical mystery tour – but both of them play it safe and the quest succeeds.
Quest the Seconde: Poor Percival. I was cringing so much for him. Sandwiched between Oberon and the Assassin, he adds a Loyal Servant of Arthur to the quest. The Assassin holds Keeping a close eye on you and doesn’t play it (of course) – and hopes not to have to, so he can hang on to it for the entire game! – and Morgana holds In the Spotlight. Of course, the Assassin fails the quest, having delivered a pretty clear message in-thread to Oberon, and Morgana follows up with Keeping a close eye on a Loyal Servant of Arthur. Here’s where Morgana could have lied about what she saw. She saw Success, of course. But saying so would implicate both herself and the Assassin. What should she have done?
