Is that a Zippo? Interesting because Zippo is an American brand.
No clue. The MoD carefully didn’t mention brand, and I have zero lighter knowledge.

There must be a British manufacturer of Zippo style lighters, but I definitely never saw or used one in my 15 or so years as a smoker. It was all Zippos. The only non-Zippo refillable lighters I used were Clippers, which used a butane can.
That’s almost definitely a Zippo. Everything about the mechanisms, including the bit that holds the top open/closed, is exactly like in a Zippo.
Maybe someone used a Zippo to set this alight.
