Putin’s notion of population control?

Inflict as much suffering on Ukrainians as possible and hope the West tires of supporting Ukraine seems to be the plan.

McCarthy’s takeaway from Jan 6 was “if I don’t do what the MAGA’s say, they’ll kill me.” That’s informed most of his behavior since.

The Russians have gained complete control of the Sea of Azov, secured the water supply to Crimea, gained natural-gas rich territory in Eastern Ukraine, seized a huge nuclear power plant and gained a buffer around the population centers in Donetsk and Luhansk. If they can ground down Ukraine into accepting this as the status quo, Putin can certainly claim a victory. Putin’s aim is to do this without massive further Russian casualties, by relying on terror bombing of Ukrainian cities and pressure on Ukraine’s allies.

And apparently gained control of one of the largest sources of rare earths in the world

To which we respond, “so like being a Democrat?”

Prigozhin (the owner of Wagner PMC) sent a sledgehammer with blood stains to EU parliament.

Russia needs to be put down like the rabid dog they are. It’s not just a war of aggression, their actions in this war has been fucking monstrous.

And not just to the Ukrainians, but to their own people.

Okay, so still taking flak for my million man thing, but lets see, normally you’d need about 3 to 1 odds in order to attack successfully, there are about 300k Ukranians on the front…1 mill…sounds about right, and they are doing it btw…I’m still right about that, it’s just not done well and it hopefully will be a shitshow…

Also remember 3-1 odds doesn’t really help if all they got is AK’s.

I think Putins goal is a landbridge from Russia to Crimea, this has sortof been achieved, but they need to secure Donbass, as they probably think regionally…

We shall see. Also, fuck them.

I’m not sure about the conclusions you’re drawing. Russia was attacking and pushing the AFU back (slowly and incrementally) in the summer. Are you saying Russia had a million men then as well?

Even if we take the 3:1 ratio as a given that just means locally in an offensive, not an entire theater.

Is this fake? The face looks more Asian that Putin. And his left hand gripping the chair doesn’t move, like it’s almost photoshopped in.

Eh, looks to me like a very make-uped Putin with someone getting fisheye perspectives from recording a TV with a phone. The hand is a bit unusual, but not so much that I would ascribe meaning.

I think they want to push the entire front…so I think the number holds.

They want to occupy all of Ukraine and have Zelensky’s head on a pike. Their wanting doesn’t have anything to do with reality.

Not trying to be difficult or an asshole or anything, I just remain confused at how you’re coming to your conclusions!

I’m going to have a million dollars. How do I know that? Well there is a thing I want to buy that costs a million dollars. Therefore, it stands to reason that that is what I will have. It’s science!

See, this is how Donald Trump won the election. He needed another million votes to beat Biden, and since he beat Biden he must have had another million votes. #FACTS.

I just told you, they need 3-1 advantage ANYWHERE to push the entire front, a million men might do that. You’ll see. However, I do think they will run out of heavy weapons and the entire thing will come apart…plus I wonder how much casualties they can take, but sadly, they are Russian and they seem to be able to die off in buckets without anything happening at the homefront.

And no, despite those few videos of angry recruits, there are literally no opposition yet…its fucking madness.

I’m not sure you can generalize ratios across an entire campaign like that. Certain battles may require a 3:1 advantage, but depending on the terrain and other quantifiables, it might require more. The 3:1 ratio is also probably taking into account that the two sides are of similar quality and morale.

This was posted above but you obviously didn’t read it:

The “million men” isn’t happening. The Russians don’t have enough trainers, enough training facilities, enough uniforms, enough food, enough medicine, enough of anything to come close to equipping a million men.
